Bluechip computer, a German IT distribution company, has inadvertently spilled the beans on AMD and Intel's plans for the remainder of this year, shedding some more light on a number of products whose existence was still somewhat marred in fog. The information comes straight from a webinar Bluechip presented to its industry partners - a 30-minute presentation which made its way to YouTube.

The information gleaned is a confirmation, of sorts, of AMD's planned launch of their Z490 platform in June; the B450 chipset coming a little bit later, in July (an expected product, in every sense); and AMD's second-gen Threadripper, a known-quantity already, which should accompany a X399 platform refresh.

On Intel's side of the camp, some ill-kept secrets have apparently been confirmed: the launch of the company's Z390 chipset, for instance, is expected to happen in Q3 2018 - some time after Computex, which might mean a relatively sparse landscape when it comes to teases and new product announcements based on Intel's upcoming top of the line chipset. Oh, and that unicorn of an 8-core Coffee Lake part is apparently being prepped for 4Q 2018, with silicon being moved to partner hands as early as June.

And this is something new between the two?
They've always done that, one countering the other - That's just what they do and how it goes.

Makes sense concerning the TR refresh since the Ryzen refresh has already been done.

Actually it is new starting with the Ryzen. R3, R5, R7 copying i3, i5, i7. Intel X99 and X299 then AMD had to make a X399. Intel Z170, Z270 then AMD makes a X370 and Intel is coming out with a Z390 now AMD is coming out with a Z490.

AMD is like a fuckin little child. THat's why they will always be second fiddle to Intel. They can't even be a leader in the their own marketing.
on the other side of the coin, it could be Intel being the "f**&** child" here copying AMD, depends how you desire to spin it.

Not really. Intel may not OWN those combos of letters and numbers, but they clearly were the trend starters.

another bandwagon rider.

whats childish are kids fighting and saying "well they started it". it truly does not matter when both are being childish, but thats also the nature of business and trying to capitalize on someone else's success, its rampant here in the US, not uncommon for crap like this "childish" shit to happen

Wasn't referring to anything in particular, they always counter each other and releases are timed to that effect, literally predictable when it comes down to it. That's how it's always been done and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
However anything "New" coming to light is of interest.

This documentation is probably a mix of speculation and estimates from this distributor, and should be taken with a grain of salt.
I wouldn't take this information too seriously, there are obvious mistakes here, like referring to Intel X299 as Broadwell-E. The upcoming Cascade Lake-X is also missing, even though we know it's coming soon.

Mistakes are not uncommon, even in official documentation from Intel. Does anyone remember the i7-3910K? It was mentioned in several official Intel sources, but was simply a typo of i7-3930K. The rumored Intel X399 for Skylake-X might also be a typo.

AMD has always been a copycat. When Intel and Nvidia releases something new, they try to imitate their every move. TressFX -> Hairworks, RTX -> ProRender, G-Sync -> FreeSync, x79 x99 x299 z270 -> x399 x370, i3 i5 i9 -> r3 r5 r7. i9 -> R9 is going to happen. AMD is like the little brother always looking up to the bigger bros.

Everybody complaining about AMD:s chipsets having "copycat" names, but nobody mentions that Intel is releasing a platform with the name X399. I think I've seen that name before somewhere

X299 and X99 are Intel's, it's pretty predictable how the next one will be called, AMD on the other hand...

Wasn't referring to anything in particular, they always counter each other and releases are timed to that effect, literally predictable when it comes down to it. That's how it's always been done and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

No AMD chipset was ever called Zxxx in recent history at least

It's so blatant what they're trying to do, i don't understand why you purposely keep ignoring that...Actually i might know.

Rooting for the red team but owner of blue; If true I agree that AMD should fire marketing/naming-team. Its too retarded naming scheme and reflects badly on their products. If their CPUs perform their chipsets should do be worthy of their own name and not Intels names. Someone properbly calculated that direct copying should pay off, I hope that person gets fired

Well seeing how AMD was born...Their first product was literally a revision of a intel's cpu, which ended up being better, but still. They're not saying anything, they're just trying and get confused customers and at the same time trying to piss off intel.
