An official Gigabyte UK Notebook representative, who goes by the name of Atom80, over at the OverclockersUK forums has confirmed that NVIDIA's next-generation mobile GPUs will launch towards the end of this year. When asked about whether Gigabyte will be providing a GTX 1080 option for their Aero 15X V8-CF1 notebook, Atom80 stated that there are no plans to upgrade the Aorus notebook family until the next-generation GPUs are available. Since the mobile variants usually launch a few months after the desktop variants, it's possible that we're looking at a summer launch for the desktop models.

I wonder if we will hear anything at the E3 Expo, guess we will find out either way soon as that is only just over a month away.

Computex in Taipei starts 5. June:
computextaipei.com.tw/

But yeah, if they release something, it will be their own announcement event. Not some generic exhibition.

edit. damn slow mobilephone keyboard.

The 27th of this month will resemble 2 years since GTX 1080 launched.
My god that's stagnation if i've seen any.

Yeah I think ultimately we are all for freedom of choice, but AMD need to up their game, the Vega launch seemed to last forever... and then when the card finally did launch, it vanished down the mines never to be seen again.

Intel apparently getting seriously about GPUs again might be the kick the industry needs... maybe.

I was accustomed to them launching the compute high-end aroud April, consumer high-end in autumn with consumer mid-end to follow.
Just as well, until I find a 4k monitor I can afford, my GTX1060 will do.

Very true, OTOH game demand hasnt really been on the rise either. My RX480 still maxes out everything at 1080p, no problem. The 1080 is a powerful card, and outside of pushing higher resolutions and refresh rates, such a card is still OP after two years.

I think graphics are reaching the point of significantly decreased returns for higher levels of fidelity.

For me, it would be interesting to see whether these new cards have enough HP to properly push RTX (assuming RTX gains a bit of traction).
