Always have since those days. AMD Has always been on the car somewhere.

Once the financial crisis started hitting in the US after around the world many pulled their sponsorships from F1. F1 became less interesting. You had a brief time where Jaguar, Ford, BMW & Toyota were all making comebacks to F1 and bam every one started cutting back, teams left. F1 started looking more like F3 and hasn't recovered since IMHO.

Actually AMD quit sponsoring Ferrari in 2012 and returned this season
 
The front profile of that car in the 1st pic is freakin amazing....how far they have come with aero. Am very grateful for living so close to the USGP back in the early 2000's and to have been able to experience all of them live. Unfortunately Austin, Tx. is too far away to be feasible these days... =(
