Toshiba sues DVD replicating firm EDD

It seems that every day, one company is suing another. Toshiba filed a complaint against DVD replicating firm EDD just a few days ago with a German Regional Court, claiming that the EDD had not properly licensed equipment with Toshiba or the DVD6C to run their business. Now, Toshiba has decided to sue, asking for EDD to cease and desist all sales of their services, and to give an unspecified amount of money to Toshiba as reparations.

DVD copying firm EDD has not responded to the lawsuit yet.

what do they mean by dvd duplicating? like the duplicate the movies? and if so why would they need to buy a license, shouldn't that be covered by the company that they're duplicating for?

Seems they essentially mean anything with the DVD name on it.

because it hadn't licensed the appropriate intellectual property from Toshiba or the DVD6C Licensing Agency, the body the manages DVD technology pooled by nine companies and enshrined in 14 patents covering everything from players and recorders to media, including pre-recorded, recordable and rewriteable discs, and even cases.

If I invented some method of doing business, and some company copied it and illegally made money from it, I'd be pissed as well. At least ask me before hand, you dick!
