Well, that's it, then: we now have yet another CD Projekt Red game to look forward to. It was always expected that this would be the case: that The Witcher didn't end with The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. It just couldn't; that game was much too close to a masterpiece, and too much of a commercial success, for that world not to be visited in other circumstances. In an interview with Bankier.pl, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński spoke about the possibility of a new Witcher game - outside the pretty clear-cut The Witcher trilogy arc we already know (and love).

"This does not mean, of course, that we will leave the world of The Witcher. The Witcher is one of two franchises on which to build the future activities of the company. Today, unfortunately, I can not reveal anything more."

Adam Kiciński, CD Projekt Red CEO

Those two franchises are - quite obviously - Cyberpunk and The Witcher, so it seems CD Projekt Red has found its calling and enough creative space within the two franchises to thrive. The Witcher has the open-world, medieval/fantasy RPG hold as one of the best such games ever created, and spawned a product that fills another space and revenue stream with Gwent. Cyberpunk, however, sates that technological, first person action hunger, opening up the cyberpunk (who would have guessed?) and science-fiction playgrounds. I'd say those are two of the best grounds to be in, really.

As a slight tangents, never mind that Wiedźmin's (The Witcher) creator, Andrzej Sapkowski, sold the rights to CD Projekt Red for $9,500 and waived the right for royalties for that lump payment. He might not have believed, at all, in the series' success - but how great a thing that it was, with all of its 33 million game copies sold, that we have such a fantastic games development studio on whose worlds we can dive into.

See you netrunning.

From what i understand the creator of the story aint to happy with the Witcher or CDR, tell you what he should be grateful he sold it to them and not UBI or EA or even sold it due to at that time.

I get the feeling he wont be even happy with the deal with Netflix series, as imagination is hard to put on paper and even harder to put in a TV series\film or game even.

Yeah but he is known to be kind of a 'difficult' person anyways. I think it's more jealousy that the game is the work that became the success and not the books - he blames the game for costing him book sales.

I think its a generational gap at work, this guy simply doesn't get that games are the new books in many ways. Its entertainment, and writers have that annoying tendency to consider everything they produce as 'high culture' or 'art' that elevates beyond entertainment. In fact, its all entertainment; you don't visit a museum or read a book to annoy yourself right?

Actually, from my understanding it has increased his book sales. I also went and bought most of the series after the 2nd game, and just as TW3 was coming out.

Yep. I would never have bought his books (or even heard of them) without the games, but after playing the series, I bought all of them and read them last year to understand the lore.

And as someone else said - games, at least to me, are basically like books that I get to play an important part in. :)

And just to add, I'm pumped for another Witcher game. Best news I've read in a while. :D

Witcher 3 was so good... I think they should leave the serie so that they can't flop it. Just like Dark Souls 3 is my favorite of all time and they stopped the series.

That would be a bad business decision for a company to stop making games on a specific franchise when its fans, shareholders, and the media are constantly inquiring on when the next one is coming. :)

But most know if you want the best story their is only one way to do that and that's to read the book(s). As TV\Game's leave stuff out things get changed.

Hitman comes to mind, well what it used to be at least, WOW that film was a total utter fail.

Of course, on top of that if he's spending most of his time thinking of fantasy most of the time i will take a guess his mind is not really in to what's NEW.

For the TW3? Yeah sales were amazing for a SP only game, it still sells. It even helped sell copies of the older games.

Definitely needs a certain mindset. If you go in tackling it like a WoW grind to max level, you're doing it wrong.

Those books aren't that great at all... I'm happy I've borrowed first ones from the library, instead buying them. My opinion, at least...

I found Witcher 3 very boring; I lost a lot of friends because I said I did not like Witcher 3. I played it for 89 hours and then gave up. Witcher has a big fan following which is really intolerant to criticism.

I just gotta say, you are calling a lot of people friends that are really not in that category to be called friends, if that happened. An actual friend can accept your differences and choices.

Sounds like you put a good chunk of time into trying it. If you didn’t like it, then you didn’t like it.

As to the intolerance of Witcher fans....:confused:

Agree for the most part, as this is just a game, some one saying they going stop being your friend due to it are pretty pathetic and probably better of without them.

I say you done your self a solid rooting out some false friends.
