Memory 48 GB
Video Card(s) RTX 4080

Software Windows 10 64-bit
Display specialist AOC announces the Q3279VWFD8, a sibling to the 31.5" Q3279VWF, a superb allrounder from the well-received 79 series, which debuted last autumn and received huge appraisal for its extraordinary price/performance ratio. The new monitor, Q3279VWFD8 uses a different panel type - IPS - rather than the VA panel used in its older brother and boasts a wider colour gamut for increased colour accuracy and therefore more vivid, natural and eye-catching imagery. The Q3279VWFD8's 31.5" IPS panel offers a highly detailed QHD resolution (2560x1440 pixels), 5 ms GtG response time, AMD FreeSync support and 75 Hz refresh rate. Aimed at particularly budget conscious home power users, internet cafés and everyone who is after jaw-dropping specs without breaking the bank are going to be well-served with the Q3279VWFD8.

The Q3279VWFD8 boasts a huge 31.5" IPS panel and QHD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution, resulting in fine details, a lot of screen real estate for increased productivity, and a comfortable pixel density for daily usage. While the panel and its specifications speak for itself, the exterior design of this monitor also takes the users' breath away: the glossy black finish of its narrow bezels, stand and rear cover creates a pleasing contrast with its sturdy, weighty base in silver finish.

Thanks to the wide viewing angles of 178/178° achieved by its IPS panel, friends & families sitting together are going to enjoy the vivid imagery at the same time without experiencing a colour shift. The 8-bit+FRC panel delivering 1.07 billion crisp colours and offers 88% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut help reproduce much more vivid colours including vibrant reds, deep blues, and lush greens with a high, 200:1 contrast ratio.

The QHD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution of the Q3279VWFD8 enables not only detailed photos and videos, but also games. The blend of 75 Hz refresh rate, 5 ms GtG, and AMD FreeSync support produces a fast, tear-free gameplay experience and without any additional input lag or stutter.

The Q3279VWFD8 offers a wide range of connectivity, including legacy sources such as VGA and DVI as well as HDMI an DisplayPort, therefore is capable of connecting various game consoles, PCs, laptops, set-top boxes and many more. A 3.5mm jack connector is foreseen to connect headphones or an external speakerset. AOC's Clear Vision technology improves clarity and vividness when viewing Standard Definition (SD) content. AOC's Flicker-Free technology also eliminates flicker by using Direct Current (DC) for regulating brightness instead of Pulse Width Modulation (PWC) and reduces eye-fatigue when using the monitor in long hours.

The 31.5" Q3279VWFD8 will be available from July 2018 with an MSRP of £219 / 249 EUR/USD.

5ms in specs doesn't point to a great IPS panel ;)

It's not a high end gaming display, it's for budget conscious people. 5 ms is not bad, all things considered. I would worry if it were 8 ms, maybe.

It's so weird how TPU has these press releases yet don't have press releases for every product that comes out. Do these companies pay TPU?

"...received huge appraisal for its extraordinary price..." Huge appraisal? They selling cars now? LOL.

75hz for $250? I'd highly recommend saving up $50 more and just buying a high refresh 1440p of 144hz. Actually come to think of it, I think saw a high refresh 1440p 27" on sale for $290 recently, I think it was VA though, and I admit, I do prefer IPS. Heh, but yeah IPS and 144hz only for me moving forward.

NO Vesa mount. :shadedshu:

AOC might may want to add one to it if they want me to replace the my current 3 year old G2770PQU 1080p 144Hz.

1. PPI is too a bit low at 93

2. Advertised monitor specs are so unreliable they can't even qualify as "fake news" or "alternative facts"

3. Display Port 1.2 ? That's so 5 years ago !

4. Looked for something comparable from AOC IPS on TFT central with a claimed 5ms response time. Yeah its 4 years old but DP 1.2 is older :)
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/aoc_q2770pqu.htm#gaming

This unit did not perform well in the blur tests and had a lag of just under 18 seconds. Would love to see this tested and see what's changed in 4 years.

With this available at $330 and 144 hz AU Optronics IPS Panel, I'd buy that today in a heartbeat.
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xg270hu.htm

But, once the HDR panels are shipping, the price of the Acer / Asus panels w/ AU Optronics panels and Freesync / G-Sync like above will drop in the toilet.

But note here with regard to **claimed** response times, the advertised 1 ms, when actually tested averages 4.3 w/ a high of 11.6 ms. Lag is perty good at 5.0 ms

So I'd wait till we see some actual test results before making a purchase decision based upon what the marketing department throws out.

5ms is pretty standard for IPS displays...

It's a shame for the fixed no vesa stand... it would have been a must buy to me.
My main ips display is 5ms...no ghosting in gaming at all. Above that it might be fair to worry, but not at 5.

sitting still on a full hd tv, this would be a nice straight upgrade for me:

32inch - 32inch
1920x1080 - 2560x1440
60hz - 75hz

and some nice freesync

1.07 billion is 10bit
10-bit colour is supported via 8-bit + FRC dithering
Not sure if that makes a difference over the normal 8-bit, but for sure in games you will see a performance drop due to higher gammut.
