Developed by id Software, DOOM Eternal is the direct sequel to the award-winning and best-selling DOOM (2016). Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you rip-and-tear your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat. Powered by idTech 7 and set to an all-new pulse-pounding soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, DOOM Eternal puts you in control of the unstoppable DOOM Slayer as you blow apart new and classic demons with powerful weapons in unbelievable and never-before-seen worlds.

Features:

Slayer 2.0
Unleash the overwhelming power of the DOOM Slayer. With updated armor and an arsenal of new and improved equipment, including a shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower, extendable blade, and a new dash ability, you're faster and deadlier than ever. Destroy every demon in your path with an upgraded array of guns and mods, including the Super Shotgun's new Meat Hook attachment to pull yourself point blank with the faces of hell.

Rip More, Tear More
Obliterate more demons than ever before, each with their own attacks and abilities. Fan-favorite classics such as the Pain Elemental, Archvile, and Arachnotron make their return, while a horde of totally-new demons join the roster including the DOOM Hunter and corrupted Marauders. DOOM Eternal's "destructible demons" system takes your power fantasy to new levels by ensuring that every trigger pull has never felt better.

All-new Invasion
As the Slayer, allow real players to invade your campaign as demons for a dramatic and unpredictable twist anytime you're playing the campaign. Or join the ranks of the damned yourself as you become a demon and invade a friend or other player's campaign. Invade others either by yourself or with another player, as part of a hunting party, to give the Slayer a true taste of Hell.

We're Not on Mars Anymore
Rip and tear across epic, never-before-seen worlds. Witness the tumbling skyscrapers of Hell on Earth; battle through an invasion of the mammoth BFG 10,000 on Phobos, and discover the ancient secrets of the DOOM universe. With idTech7, every environment is brought to life in unprecedented detail.

"The company promises that the new engine is capable of delivering a 10-times increase in geometric detail vs. id Tech 6."

Well, I guess it won't run as well as Doom I'm assuming (one of the few games I can max at 4k). Oh well, not that I should expect that.

The video shows otherwise, but judging from movement it looks like its played on consoles, or at least using controller. Could still be an early engines to shows off stuff

Did they announce if it's gonna be a Bethesda.net exclusive or not?

damn only 7 min out of 28?

mmhhh well if it's like Fallout 76 it will be sad to say bye bye to that franchise ... oh well will still get the OST, not dropping Mike Gordon because of Bethesda
granted i loved what they did with DooM (2016) which was the first real doom since 1996 (Doom 3 wasn't totally Doom as it omitted the most essential thing of the franchise ) and Eternal looks gorgeous and fun ...

i have enough game store/launcher/etc without needing a new one ...

edit ... how funny ...

"BFG 10,000 " i guess they wouldn't rename it "BFG it's over 9000"

Bought DooM cheap off some key company but I just can't get into it for some reason, looks pretty and runs smooth, but damn it's dull.

@GreiverBlade Gameplay looks good, but that console movement, oh my god I can't watch it. Reminds me of playing Virtua Cop... When they switch to PC, it's like totally different game.

I liked Doom 2016, but it wasn't anything that I would call fantastic or excellent. I would call the original Doom 2 quite excellent, but the new Doom had many quirks I didn't like. For example the levels were quite linear, there is no real flow of combat because it is paused frequently, the rooms where you have to clear every enemy were not smart, music was not too melodic but rather just had a lot of noisy metallic elements, even the biggest battles were not too large, and simply the freedom of finishing the levels the way you like wasn't there. I enjoyed Doom 2016, but it wasn't exactly what I hoped for.

This next Doom on the other hand has some improvements compared to the 2016 version. It has lessened the linearity of levels and seems to have more open ended areas that you can explore in the order you wish. Sadly this seems to be the only real improvement that really spices up the gameplay. Gadgets and enemy types are added for sure, but they are not essential for the real Doom, or rather iD Software shooter experience. I will probably play this game eventually, but I'm certainly not willing to pay the full price for it.

Don't know about preorder, but that vid does make me already want to play... :)

Why not? The entire Quake series is already available on GOG. What would be the big deal?

Ask them :) If they actually plan to incorporate more Bethesda.net features like they do with FO4/Skyrim, then I can see a problem. Not sure why this would be necessary with Id games though.

Still though, it's not like having to move to a whole new platform (PS4/XBX). It's a freaking app. lol. The first I definitely understand and get pissed at. This, not so much.

Quake is from ID soft ... not beth .... and almost borderline public domain :p

that's why i wrote "fat chance" because of Bethesda :D

muh ... okay beth is present on GoG ... but only the oldies, tho the argument is valide for Quake ... i refuse to considere that serie, even on GoG, as Bethesda

still not needed ... STEAM/Origin/Galaxy/Bnet are fine by themselves (Bethesda does not have the same offering as any of the competitor ... so a new "launcher/store" would be a royale PITA)

Good points. I think GOG.com is big enough to that Bethesda will likely give it's users the love we deserve. If only we could get SquareEnix to go GOG..

Maybe not needed, but I when I hear calls of avoiding a game because of it, I have to roll my eyes. It's already bad enough when people say they won't play anything on a console, but this takes the cake. If you're a gamer, then it's simply about Games. Not platforms. Let alone launchers. That's where my loyalties lie at least... the game(s).

This applies in many ways.. It's also why I don't understand why there are Linux-only gamers. It's not where the games really are. I can understand hating Windows, but tough luck. Deal with it. Life sucks. Now go play a game.

Those are pretty much blanket statements , geometric detail simply means the number of triangles that models sport which varies anyway. I've seen the gameplay and the visuals are pretty much identical to the 2016 one, no one should worry about performance.

Just because they say the engine has been optimized somehow to permit 10 times the triangle count that doesn't mean they'll also do it.

That depends on your point of view. The are some good reasons for brand loyalty. For some people, that loyalty is earned. For example, I personally will not touch Origin, Battlenet, etc. because of crap DRM and other reasons. I don't care how awesome a game is, if the platform it's available on is garbage, or playing the game is more pain than it's worth, I will never play it. There are a few games on XBO that are very cool, but that requires an XBO which is a deal-breaker.

There is more to gaming than just the games. Platform does matter. Nintendo, Sony and GOG are my platform providers of choice. They have earned that brand loyalty by treating their users with respect in most ways. GOG takes said respect to the next level.

Just because they say the engine has been optimized somehow to permit 10 times the triangle count that doesn't mean they'll also do it.
Excellent point!

They have earned that brand loyalty by treating there users with respect in most ways. GOG takes said respect to the next level.

Excellent point!
actually i don't care about the launcher, tho i prefer to have all my most played games on one launcher, which is why my preference goes to STEAM (GoG is second ... as they have not all i seek, but almost enough.), on Origin i have mmmhhh ... 7 games ~ on Uplay... 4 (and 1 i also have on STEAM ... yep duplicated game ... but free on both platform ... FC3BD ) on GoG.... 9 games (tho they don't really need a launcher so i could add them to STEAM ) battle.net.... 6 and STEAM... 229... well 179 installed 153 favorite'ed

if it's on GoG i have less issues

plus i had many consoles till today to deal with the exclusives (tho nowadays Exclusive are less and less interesting.)

GOG releases put junk in the registry and not only, but at least they work properly.
Everything puts junk in the registry. Widows' registry is a Piece of junk.

Yeah, dude, Steam's registry entries are a mess too. And it's not just in one section to easily get rid of, but spread across different trees.. AND you'd have to look up every entry for a game's "ID number" on Steam's website to know what you're deleting (which again you'd have to delete numerous times across multiple trees). You won't be able to see the actual names of said games or easily search for them.

Total BS. I own almost 200 games on GOG and not one eff's up the registry. Not one.

Of course, Steam's most recent client isn't that bad either. Maybe that's because I only have 13 games there..
