The pipes are what transfers heat away from the base plate, the fins further transfer that heat to a larger dissipation area, the fan then blows the heat away.
More pipes=more heat transfer.
In a fantasy world more pipes means more heat transfer. There is like 50 different variables that will affect the cooling performance of a heatsink.
I'll wait the review between this one and the Noctua so i can have a laugh.
