Antec Teases New Open-design TORQUE Case on Social Media

In a move that may have been premature, if the information only being available on Antec India's Facebook page is anything to go by, we got word of their new TORQUE case coming to the market soon. It adopts the ever-growing trend of open cases with flat metal sections combined with tempered glass pieces, and the released image also brings up comparisons to the Cougar Conquer we reviewed last year. Indeed, the comments on the social media post do not help Antec's case either with the majority pointing out the similarities rather than discussing more about the case.

As it is, the Antec TORQUE is a full size case with e-ATX motherboard support alongside seven PCI slot covers in an aluminum body with at least one tempered glass side panel held in place with multiple screws. A black and red color scheme provides some color aside from the usual monotone, although now it looks similar to a case mod by a Thai modder for a Thermaltake competition in 2016. Other features include a USB 3.1 (likely Gen 2) Type-C connector on the front, and Antec claims "amazing airflow" which is challenging in open cases such as this. It is intended for a restricted public target. I like it because it presents extravaganza, unusual and unique. They tend to cost alot of money because of production process, also is better to have a full custom watercooling setup. Radiator works best in open air.

I don't see how turning it into a radioactive christmas tree is going to make it look any less like ass.

Hm...I got the feeling industrial designers from Antec visited Bit-tech's sratch build section too much , but I won't hold it against them. Not bad for what it is, but FT02 still rulz them all

evolve a bit, shun the copycat instead of blaming the design ... (tho the Project X demo model looked better than the Torque which is the "end product" )

even more true since Cougar released the Conquer Essence which is, well ... released after the Project X announce
after that ... well "it's ugly" is a purely subjective opinion, "dust magnet" aherm .... even my Panzer Max is one ... vulnerable? if it was "looking vulnerable" i would understand but a friend own a Tt Core P2 open case and that thing, albeit being an open air is nowhere dusty as my Panzer Max nor anywhere near a fragile case (since i can only talk for that one ... and as i don't know of that Antec, or the model they copied. )

altho the Raidmax X08 was ugly (tho it's imho ) at last the Torque and Project X have a angled mobo tray (opposed angle of the Conquer also )

i still wait to see another volley of sale on the Conquer at my fav etailer ... for now 311chf is the double of what i paid for my Panzer Max, if it go down to 204chf again like last sale ... i will not miss that one.


P.S.: i laugh hard at Antec with their "A New Angle Of Innovation" ... well off course they wouldn't go "A New Level Of Copying our concurrent"

Nope nope nope... looks like a high speed camera shot of a case getting blown up.

It might be unique but sometimes calling something unique is just another way of saying it's stupid and yeah... This design is just plain stupid.

I like everything about it. That I can see anyway. Probably costs WAY more than I'm willing to pay for a case(less than $50?). But if money were no object...I'd buy it. No doubt about it.

No matter Cougar or Antec,
these chassis design concept are copied from MSI Aegis which launched at 2016...
this full system desgin from MSI is actually with dust reduction, none EMI issue and have a better air flow...not like Antec and cougar..
but we couldn't buy the MSI aegis chassis on the market, pity

This kind of design cannot be accepted by most people.
But it is absolutely avant-garde, eye-catching ..

This is a reach, new case design is at a stand still so we are seeing extremes and case makers venturing into the land of butt-ass-fugly.
