The online results database for the Final Fantasy XV Benchmark has been partially updated to include NVIDIA's RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti. Scores for both standard and high quality settings at 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 are available. While the data for 1920x1080 and lite quality tests are not.

Taking a look at the RTX 2080 Ti results, show it beating out the GTX 1080 Ti by 26% and 28% in the standard and high quality tests respectively, at 2560x1440. Increasing the resolution to 3840x2160, again shows the RTX 2080 Ti ahead, this time by 20% and 31% respectively. The RTX 2080 offers a similar performance improvement over the GTX 1080 at 2560x1440, where it delivers a performance improvement of 28% and 33% in the same standard and high quality tests. Once again, increasing the resolution to 3840x2160 results in performance being 33% and 36% better than the GTX 1080. Overall, both graphics cards are shaping up to be around 30% faster than the previous generation without any special features. With Final Fantasy XV getting DLSS support in the near future, it is likely the performance of the RTX series will further improve compared to the previous generation.

I'm not impressed at all. I'll wait for the 2019 cards, especially since 1080 ti overclocks like a beast, as well does reg 1080 and they come very close to those stock scores of 2080 and 2080 ti.

Benchmarks like this suck.

my 1080 ti overclocked at 2060mhz scored 14,000 points on the FFXV benchmark at 1080p. sadly there are no 1080p ones to compare it to, but the fact that 1440p is so close... pretty sad. pretty sure an oc'd 1080 ti beats a stock 2080 ti at the 1440p rez anyway. def not the 4k rez.

something tells me this gen release is all about 4k and ray tracing only, doesn't scale to the other resolutions.

OK. The number one most unreliable and tweakable benchmark of the year. You can safely ignore this as a true metric of performance.

My 1080 ti (2100MHz) testing shows that 2080 ti is better at 1440p with 25% (10000/8000) lead versus 5% (6500/6200) at 4k.

Do you guys realize there's no official drivers yet. Maybe the people that got the cards for review got a driver with them but there's no release yet on their official site.
Until official drivers come out there's no telling how they will perform.

They just pushed by making bigger dies, with more cores and higher TDP to bring a new GPU series out. Only ray tracing marketing can help those series sales at those prices. 7nm can't come soon enough to help progress in both performance, visuals and vfm for us consumers.

Well they certainly made it easy to not feel like i need to upgrade.

We don't even know if the score is linear or exponential ... Even though, it wouldn't match FPS gain.

I mean... still seems like the sweet spot.

Also once the used Pascals hit the stores, you can probably pick up a refurb/used 1080ti for $500ish.

Neither. I'll sit on my 980Ti. Still gives me great performance for my gaming needs. 3 years out of it so far and it looks like I'll easily get another 2-3 years out of my card (as long as it doesn't die on me). If I sorely feel the need to upgrade, I'll just steal back the second 980Ti I have in my HTPC/Plex/Gaming computer and run SLI again.....curious how well that would be a few years from now....

Either would be fine with me, equally I don't think Nvidia would mind too much either.

But yeah I tend to agree, they aren't holding a gun to anyones head.... besides it's not like there any better alternatives these days.

^ thats the real issue/complaint.

great for them... but kind of sucks for consumers.

it would be nice to see some modern benchmarks with the latest drivers in modern AAA games with SLI and CF @W1zzard

its been awhile since anyone has shown any honestly.

Most salty comments are coming from 1080Ti owners. We get it. You need to justify your purchase. Meanwhile it is always good to go new gen GPU for people upgrading from older gens

With the new scanner mode who says 2080 can’t overclock better than 1080? Bring overclocking is always a moot point. Product A can overclock so can product B.

Lol. Yes... we are salty because we need to justify our purchase. You definitely got it.

"The GTX 1080 boasts an average 50% better performance than the GTX 980 at 1440p across 7 synthetic and in-game benchmarks. And it rises to the 4K challenge, kicking out an average 65% higher framerates across those same tests compared to the GTX 980. And its entry price is only 9% higher than its 900 series predecessor."

because its still sad if a prev gen when overclocked on air 24.7 can match the new gen stock... thats not enough performance gain in my books. im waiting until 2019 and going AMD 7nm cpu and 7nm gpu. All AMD bb. a new age is coming

20 series was meant for 10nm. higher clocks 2,5GHz and above. 1.5Ghz of 12nm is what cripples the performance, well mostly the TDP, 40% performance us just gone. 8nm could fix things. But they left the door open are you kidding me. Turing needs 8nm asap.

Well, I can understand you're used to the huge strides going from GCN 1.0 to 1.1 to 1.2 and so on. But Nvidia can possibly keep up with that.
Though rumor has it these were actually meant for 10nm, but there's no 10nm capacity available atm.

I'm also curious about how you derive performance from specs without knowing the frequency these chips run. Cause that alone can go ±25%.
