NVIDIA today released the GeForce 411.64 WHQL "Game Ready" driver to go along with the embargo release for their latest and greatest Turing-based RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards. These drivers come with optimization for upcoming AAA game launches including Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Forza Horizon 4, and Fifa 19. For those of you who pre-ordered the new GPUs, or are going to purchase them imminently, this is the driver you will need to get the most out of the hardware.

Other new features include support for CUDA 10.0, NVIDIA RTX technology, and the new Vulkan 1.1 API. As with any GeForce driver released after April 1, 2018, the driver adds performance enhancements, new features, and bug fixes only on Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal and Volta series GPUs. NVIDIA reaffirms that critical security updates will continue to be available on Fermi series GPUs through January 2019. Full release notes, as well as the download options to the driver, can be found in the link below.

the MD5 matches that of the site, but it wont install it fails during self extraction with "not a 7zip file" manual 7 zip extraction fails with multiple corrupt archives. @W1zzard

Let's see how much this driver will break for Pascal owners and downgrade performance :D I won't install anything from the new branch for my 1080 until it becomes clear if these are any good.

I'm gonna install these on my mighty GTX 980 Ti and then fire up my fave games tonight.

I'll keep you posted if it turns my card into a Fury X.

Will wait until 1080 ti performance boost is confirmed so for now they can stick it.

If you don't have any problems with your current drivers and these don't list any improvements for titles you play, there's no reason to update anyway.
Though ideally, you'd be able to stay on the latest drivers indefinitely without fearing any performance loss (unless the driver fixes some incorrect rendering).

Is Ray tracing supported on Pascal using Vulkan? The changelog in the newest driver states:

Vulkan 1.1
  • This driver release provides full support for the new Vulkan 1.1 API and passes the Vulkan Conformance Test Suite (CTS) version 1.1.1.2.
  • Includes interoperability with CUDA 10.0.
  • New extensions for Turing GPUs:
    • VK_NVX_raytracing (also available for Pascal GPUs with 8GB or more video memory, and Volta GPUs)
    • VK_NV_compute_shader_derivatives
    • VK_NV_corner_sampled_image
    • VK_NV_fragment_shader_barycentric
    • VK_NV_mesh_shader
    • VK_NV_representative_fragment_test
    • VK_NV_scissor_exclusive
    • VK_NV_shader_image_footprint
    • VK_NV_shading_rate_image

@WikiFM ANY GPU can render ray-tracing but at the cost of massive performance hit when a specific GPU architecture do not have specialized cores that handles specific tasks.

Looking forward for the comparison reviews with older drivers for the 9xx and 10xx generations.
I have a bad feeling about this, since knowing nVidia, they will do everything in their power to wide the gap between the 1080Ti and 2080 cards, by any means.

This ^^

I never understand the penchant people have to always update to the GPU drivers just because Nvidia releases them.

Games, including the newest ones play just fine on older drivers. If they work fine, keep them.

They said exactly the same thing about Apple's "conspiracy nuts".... And guess what, not only is it proven, I also felt it first hand by going from iOS 9 --> iOS12 on the same iPhone which with each major iOS version the performance was cut by at least 25-30% on average.
Same with the GTX 780Ti, which all over the sudden, in newer games (but with the exact same engines as the older ones), got performance drops all the way to the 'newly" released GTX 960.....
I say let's continue being dumb and make those companies trillion dollar worth.

You didn't notice the part where one was proven and one wasn't in the same timeframe despite PC being a much more transparent ecosystem than ios?

That might be a sign.

Something like that.
