I'm curious what kind of design you have in mind that'd be so radically different than either of those. While still being somewhat practical at it, too...

Air 240/540/740....
TT900
BitPhoenix matx\mitx (forget the name)...

All reasonable and mostly practical examples of mfgr's literally "thinking outside the box", and producing designs that offer something way beyond these typical, boring, me-too, same ole same same lame lame contraptions, where the MAJOR differences boil down to their name badges and a VERY slight variation on the interior arrangements, and possibly a few minor color choices or front panel I/O setups....

They should have used a different font for their name, looking at the third pic I thought it said NED inside.

Something like my own case. Anything rugged, I guess.. and if you're making a tower, give it some damn 5.25 bays. Else it's just a big waste of space. I don't see the point of using ATX if that's the case.

I prefer the clean look of a case without front bays, but there's no reason they cant side mount them.

I guess some of them look cool. But personally, if I move to something stripped down, it'll be SFF. Or whatever NUCs/Steamboxes are? With a tower, it's just odd to me to not take advantage of the size.
