212 / Evo became popular because of the performance per dollar, but price has increased 100% since then.

Anyway, good to see a Black Edition. Couldn't care less about the RGB one.

The pricing is in line with the 212, at least here. I wonder what's the performance like due to the different fan. And looks, even though subjective, are greatly improved I'd say.

Maybe it's the price pay for RGB Not such a fan if I'm honest but each to their own Would love to know why there's so many price increases on the things people would buy because of the price/performance ratio.....

To all those arguing that it's ok to put RGB on everything as long as you can turn that off if you're not using it: you now have proof RGB adds ~€10 to the price.

35 bucks is already pushing it IMO for this tiny heatsink and 'okay' fan. Put this next to a Scythe Mugen or a Gelid Tranquillo and both are better options, either being more capable or 30% cheaper and more silent.

I do like the all black stealth version, in fact as a response to the RGB madness of late, my next build will be an all black stealth build or as 'black' as its possible to make it these days.

If you only want black, this Enermax model is much better cooking than the 212. Just replace the fan with something else comparable if you don’t want the LED.

Tends to hover around 30 EUR, has a better, more silent fan and cools as well as a 212

Gelid has a pretty strong line up overall, btw. Very underrated brand.

Thanks. I've been relying on Arctic Cooling, but I have the feeling (and it's just a feeling, as I have said I'm really out of the loop) they've fallen behind.

I've had slightly better luck with red.

In all seriousness though...my cheap go to cooler is the Cryorig M9 series. 20 bucks. Surprisingly quiet for a 92mm fan.

Raijintek Themis Evo, slightly heavier at over 600g but that's big cooler with 4x8mm pipes instead of 6mm, I can assume it cools as well as 6x6mm. Cheaper than 212 Evo right now on Newegg, 212 Evo might be good in general but will fall behind with OC or high core count, since the cooler is too slim to soak up extra heat, Themis Evo might by handy because it's fatter and has thicker pipes.

I don't think anyone expects coolers in this price range to shine at handling heavy overclocks or tons of cores
