If rumors are to be believed, which they sometimes should be (Google DID buy YouTube, after all), then Microsoft is about to spend $6 billion on the acquisition of Facebook. From a business standpoint, buying one of the largest social networking sites in America would bring Microsoft ahead in the game of internet business. This makes sense, especially considering the last profitable thing Microsoft did involving the internet was the acquisition of Hotmail.

It's not surprising that they haven't made any profit involving the Internet within the last several years ... they are very monolithic after all. Cough cough.

Affirmative! haha.

This rumor's actually been floating around for a long while, since before that major "face-lift" actually. The owner refused it then, but did take on Microsoft Advertising for a hefty sum (thus all the MS ads in facebook now)
Personally I think it would start a downward spiral if MS got their hands on facebook. The simplicity in it is the draw, as well as the security there... MS would find some way to ruin it for sure.

Oh, and, note the source.

i think most mainstream free email accounts are better than Hotmail, even the Hotmail premium accounts are lacking what free yahoo accounts offer. MS has the wrong strategy when it comes to Internet services for instance allowing Google with its far superior search engine to gain an irreversible foothold on the market before M$ decided to mount a challenge.

Stupid Apps,
or all apps in general?

I was opposed to apps at first, but they're pretty kewl and useful if you get the right ones (just like Firefox plugins/add-ons)... however, the removal of stupid ones would be a gain.

If M$ buy facebook, then I will be closing my account. Knowing M$ they will either fuck it up completely, or make a great sucess. My guess is that M$, if they buy it will make a mess of it.:banghead:

Suprised that they dont make u have WGA to use M$ sites on windows os computers :p

I can see why M$ would want it, I mean google have youtube, so m$ want there own social networking site. I mean i know youtube is not a social networking site, but its as good as, plus if M$ play there cards right, it would give them a boost into the early dark and murky world of web 2.0, or as I understand it it would.
