BIOS modder Vipeax has released a special patched version of NVFlash (version 5.527.0), the utility that allows you to extract and flash the video BIOS of your NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. This special version lets you to bypass NVIDIA restrictions and flash GeForce RTX 20-series Founders Edition (FE) graphics cards with BIOS ROMs of custom-design graphics cards. The official versions of NVFlash that support "Turing" GPUs report a "board ID mismatch" error when trying to do this, and an additional CLI parameter that made it ignore this warning, was removed by NVIDIA, effectively walling off Founders Edition cards from BIOS cross-flashing. You still can't flash the card with a BIOS you modified, because of NVIDIA's digital-signature restriction that has been in place since "Pascal," however, this new change could come handy if you want to flash your FE card with the BIOS of a custom-design card that is largely based on NVIDIA's reference-design PCB.

PC enthusiasts look to flash their Founders Edition cards with BIOS ROMs of custom-design graphics cards by other NVIDIA add-in card partners, mainly to increase power limits that allow the GPU to sustain boost frequencies better, and increase overclocking headroom. As an obligatory word of caution, use of NVFlash isn't covered by product warranties, and you use it at your own risk, especially when cross-flashing between cards that might have subtle differences. We manually checked the modified executable (not just Virustotal) and it doesn't contain any malware.

I was actually wondering why they did it in the first place? It's not like they had to offer support for borked flashes and I don't know of any malware that was taking advantage of a video BIOS flash.

I have a ZOTAC 2080TI with FE design and well buged with GPU with high Power % (TDP) on idle with impossibility to get 3D Ghz.
after many disable/enable the carde device, the IDLE came back to normal with normal Works on 3D too. so the card isn't dead. just bugged bios.

- I have try nvflash64_patched_5.527.0 but stay blocked with ID mismatch (no bypass action show)

and the older

- nvflash64_patched_5.513.0
I have access to the bypass command YES/y YES/y during flashing.
but end fails with Error code = 0x005A

So why on nvflash64_patched_5.527.0 the bypass ID check fail ?
or using nvflash64_patched_5.513.0 : how to get rid of that end error ?

dam buged CG

Need your help.

I'm trying to use this to flash my RTX 2080 Windforce (Non OC Version) to any other bios, but I still get the mismatch error. I've tried -6 and - - protectoff. I've tried regular nvflash too... Any suggestions? I've read on Gigabyte forums that someone flashed my version of this card to the EVGA Ultra XC (130%), which is what I wanted to do for higher Power Limit... Frustrating since it at 111% currently and want to stabilize clocks when over 2000mhz.

Looks like it depend on if you have a A (1E87) or non A chip (1E82) ... Just an FYI if someone runs into this you cannot flash a non A with a A bios... I would love to find a bios for a non A chip that has a higher than 111% power limit for reference board though.

NOT WORK !!!!
Nvflash doesn't support your GPU. Please try a new version of Nvflash
Firmware image requires a newer version of NVFLASH
