Silverstone Unveils 1550W Strider Titanium and 2000W Strider Platinum PSUs

At CES 2019, Silverstone updated its portfolio of unique short-length high-Wattage PSUs with the new Strider Titanium 1550W (ST1550-Ti) and Strider Platinum 2000W (ST2000-Pt). Their biggest USP is their high power density and short lengths, in the 18-19 cm range. The ST1550-Ti, as its name suggests, boasts of 80 Plus Titanium efficiency. It's a minor update to the ST1500-Ti the company launched in 2017. The ST2000-Pt, on the other hand, puts out 2000 Watts of power using a single 166A +12V rail. Owing to its short length, it ends up with a stellar 861 Watts/liter power density. Both models feature a large number of PCIe and EPS connectors to power heavily overclocked HEDT builds with multiple graphics cards.

builds with multiple graphics cards. generally don't get built these days (Shear cost of High end pixal pushers )
these were probably Aimed at the Crypto mining Market ( but that market has sort of gone titsup) so they gotta spin the PR to another Market

Huge power supplies like these have existed long before the crypto bubble(s). There is a market for these, outside of mining. Cost has never been an issue for people building these rigs. How about a watercooled (or better yet, peltier) 9980xe clocked to the moon and two watercooled 2080Ti?

It could, however, power a hefty peltier, which would then be cooled by a normal water loop. It's been a long time since I heard of anyone using such a thing though... last time I heard about it was back when the Core 2 Duo was the shit.

I am not implying it powers a chiller
Given how Skylake-X frequency scales with power, a 28-core monster can easily pull in excess of 1000W on the CPU alone when OCed, so the 1550W is just about right for a full system.
Now even the 2000W version would be enough to power a full system + chiller.

I agree, these HEDT chips can really pull down some power, especially when overclocked... even my 2600k can easily pull down in excess of 100w. I shudder to think what a 7980xe, for example, would consume...

Forget mining...

This 2000w PSU on 220v probably still couldn't take a 7980xe & water chiller combo at full speed. The chiller would need its own connection. I mean a 30amp circuit could take it, but it'll probably be over 2000w.

Now, maybe the 2000w psu comes with 2 24-pin connectors + all those other connectors required fir the 7980?
