The Platimax 1500w has served me for 10 years and I still have it on the side. It would be a good idea to review this model , or there is really something new here, or they just installed a little stronger mosfet s. Certainly it's a good power supply with a lot of reserve, the only disadvantage is in the implementation of modular connections for the GPU, where 3 GND connections are extracted from one cable. The couplings were very hot in use and deformed from the strong consumption of my dual GPU (2x590GTX TGT 798Hz!) cards. After ten years of use, I lost 2 outputs due to the melting of plastic and, a strong resistance well lit the connectors .It's good that current GPUs do not have such high power consumption on the connection .

Not really. Your outlet can't deliver more in a standard home. You'd need a 20amp outlet and that can't be guranteed so they rate it like that. Thank Mr. Edison for frightening us off high voltage AC.

You DO know its physically not possible to draw more than 1500-1600W from the wall in a normal US home right? I don't know why you're crying that this is false advertising. If they claimed 1800W in the US then I would cry that it's false advertising.

120VAC ± 5% = 126VAC x 15A(Standard outlet circuit breaker/fuse rating) = 1890W

I'm not saying it's the best idea to pull 1800W from a single standard outlet. But it's within specs for modern US homes. I believe I've seen "1875W Max" stated on something you'd plug into a standard outlet(I think it was a heavy gauge extension cord IIRC). A quick look around the house to see what I've got that pulls a lot of power turned up a 1625W 13A window mounted AC unit. I run that thing all day long from a standard outlet in the summer without issues. And it's not even the only thing on that circuit(though the other things probably draw less than 100W total).

So theoretically you can pull 1800w... but you're not taking into account efficiency of the unit either. Even if it's 95% efficient, an 1800w load means 1890w from the wall. And that doesn't count anything else that would normally be plugged into that outlet that isn't a power supply... like a monitor, speakers, etc...

Personally I have a surge protector with two computers, a monitor, soundbar, PS3, clock, box fan and an 18650 charger plugged into it.
