In a hurry to mop up its product stack, NVIDIA is giving finishing touches to the new GeForce GTX 1650 lower-mainstream graphics card, with an intention to release sometime this March. The card is rumored to be based on NVIDIA's smallest "Turing" chip, the 12 nm "TU117." NVIDIA will use the GTX 1650 to capture key sub-$200 price-points where its "Pascal" based GTX 1050 and GTX 1060 3 GB find themselves embattled against AMD's Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 4 GB, which have undergone major price-cuts.

The GeForce GTX 1650 is rumored to feature anywhere between 896 to 1,024 CUDA cores based on the "Turing" architecture, and most likely a 128-bit wide memory interface holding 4 GB of memory. According to TUM_APISAK, its core clock speed is set to 1485 MHz. With its TDP expected to be around 75 Watts, the card will either completely lack power connectors, or feature a single 6-pin PCIe power connector in some custom-design cards.

They want a product that will sell? Make the 1670 and 1680 with slightly worse performance than the 2070 and 2080 without RTX and at a slightly less unreasonable price. But that will cut into sales of the 2070 and 2080.

On another note, this naming scheme is really stupid. Why not 1550 instead? 16 seems like an arbitrary number.

I kind of want one. Obv a render but if they made one that looks like this would buy.

I agree with you, but actually they won't really affect the RTX sales as they are not selling well (and I was diplomatic at this point).

Wonder what sort of performance this will have compared to 1050 Ti.

Sadly single-slot cards are dead, and TBH they aren't really necessary.

Well in gaming, that's quite right. That form factor is still use in many workstation cards though. Fastest current air cooled single slot gaming card is probably Galax gtx1070 Katana. So the usual suspects might come with single slot(Inno3d) or low profile versions(msi, zotac) of 1650s.

if it can match and a be little above gtx 1060 with 75w no power connections, they have a winner. I will without hesitation order one.

This has piqued my interest as well. We know what Turing can do on the high end but I am really not sure how the low end will fair. I think it would be in their best interest to not have a 6 pin power connector on this. This could end up being a really nice low power GPU if it could manage 1060 3GB with no power connectors.

I would think that would nearly kill the purchases of the RTX 2080 and 2070. Right now, the only 'compelling' reason to grab one of these for current Pascal owners is for the extra 'features'.

Would love to see a new low-profile / half-height champ, which the 1050 Ti is currently at.

This will be interesting in a laptop form factor. If they can pull off a max q variant with 1024 cores, that should be in the ball park of the 1060 max q in terms of performance. With 1050 level thermals that would fit in a 1 in 2 device, which really tickles my fancy.
