GIGABYTE Unveils C621 Aorus Xtreme to Challenge ROG Dominus

With ASUS monetizing its exclusivity as being the sole supplier of a Xeon W-3175X-capable client-segment motherboard by selling the ROG Dominus for 1,550€, it was only a matter of time before other motherboard makers came out with halo products of their own. GIGABYTE unveiled the C621 Aorus Xtreme, and it's nothing like the board the company supplied to Intel for its 2018 demo of the W-3175X. This monstrosity pulls power from as combination of two 24-pin ATX and four 8-pin EPS connectors, conditioning power for the CPU with a gargantuan 32-phase VRM that's cooled by a large aluminium heatsink that covers not just much of the upper part of the board, but also the I/O area, and much of the board's tail end. It also takes in two 6-pin PCIe connectors to stabilize power for the PCIe slots. The massive PCH heatsink extends to meet up with the VRM heatsink on the other end.

Connectivity includes everything you'd possibly want, with a riser card providing four M.2-22110 slots with PCIe 3.0 x4 wiring, each; a U.2 port, and eight SATA ports completing the storage options; two 1 GbE interfaces driven by Intel I210AT and I219LM controllers, a high-grade onboard audio solution, and an immeasurable amount of overclocker-friendly features that include diagnostic POST code read-outs, voltage measurement points, voltage stabilizers, and a feature-rich BIOS setup program. GIGABYTE didn't reveal pricing.

I love huge boards like this and this one actually has 7 full slots. Man...I can dream. I wish there was a Threadripper / EPYC board this good; there are of course nice ones available but none that have actually 7 full slots. I feel like even old boards like the ASRock X79 Extreme11 offered much more back then, for what the CPU/chipset was able to do, than ATX/EATX/SSI CED, etc, offers now. I don't so much care about the Xeon W-3175X. It's just I want a great board then I decide on the CPU. But I suppose I'd rather wait for bigger changes to come along like DDR5 boards.

2990WX has terrible balance of performance lol. It's not even in the same league. Still waiting for Windows 10 patch to fix its flaws LOL

To be honest my Gygabyte MZ31 AR0 paired with 32 core first gen epyc seems like it is still a better buy.
I got 2x16 pci express 3.0 frontier Editions in it, 16x pci 3.0 Card for 4 NVME ssds each with 4x bandith, a built in NVME Slot on board that is also 4x, double 10GB Network nics built in, 16 sata Slots, and another 4 port usb 3.0 Card, that uses 4 pci express Slots.
And still have 3 more pci Slots free.

And this is all posible because the epyc gives me 128 pci lanes.

Im running, and esxi Server with 2 Windows vm and a freenas vm.
Works perfectly running two gaming instances on the same pc.
Need to double up on ram, 64 gb is kinda low.
Even at this chapter, ist 16gb dimms, supporting 2 TB of ram kicks ass.

So i dont know why would anyone be getting this.

This goes well beyond my needs of what I need for my home ESXI host.
