NVIDIA To Release G92 , C72 And C73 In November

According to VR-Zone, NVIDIA is to release its latest GPU, namely the G92, in November. It doesn't really come as a surprise due to the fact that NVIDIA's timetable placed their next GPU near to the end of this year.

NVIDIA will also launch its next generation of PCI Express 2.0 SLI chipsets for both Intel and AMD. The C73 and C72 chipsets for Intel support 45nm Yorkfield and Wolfdale processors. For AMD, there will be the MCP72, supporting AM2+ Phenom processors. The main differences between the C73 and C72 are FSB and memory speed ( 1600MHz FSB and memory for the C73, and 1333MHz FSB and memory for the C72 ). Each chipset will come in 2 flavors, the "XE" which supports 3x16 SLI is priced at $150, and the "P" version, which supports 2x8 SLI, is priced at about $100. The MCP72 series is likely to be the only chipset to support Hybrid SLI.

The 8800 Ultra wasnt a new GPU , it was the same 8800GPU just with higher clocks..My guess is they released the 8800Ultra cause they thought that ATI had something faster to present than the X2900XT and wanted to be sure they could win that too.
In any case the G92 is propably to come in Low-Mi-High range versions.

( I recall certain people saying that Nvidia wouldnt release their newest card near the end of the year....)

Nice, this will make all G80 series more affordable, thus filling the mid-range gap in nVidia's current inventory

I bet only the high end model will be release first, with cheaper models coming some months later. Who needs a new G80 mid range card when you may get a GTX for a good price once this new card is released?

I see it's time for me to sell the remaining 8800GTX. It's kinda wasteful that my girlfriend use it to web serve and type email. Boy I miss my gaming rig.

I remember rumors going around at some point that the G92 would be three times as powerful as the 8800GTX, what do you think of that? I figure if nothing else it would have to at least be more DX10 powerful.


The new chipsets sound nice, wonder if I will end up with a newer build sooner rather then later....

I think it ended at 800mhz. Then ddr3 was supposed to pick up at 1066 mhz.

I think it ended at 800mhz. Then ddr3 was supposed to pick up at 1066 mhz.

cool, that's what I was thinking. but the C72 apparently has support for the unofficial 1066mhz speed.

I think the C72 supports up to DDR2800 but with OC i think it supports up to DDR833.

Why wouldn't a company have anything to gain by releasing a GPU three times the power of their previous card, with a similar(or lower) power consumption/heat creation/variable noise level?

I don't see why it wouldn't make sense to create an even larger dominace of the market.

8900GTX anybody? 25% more stream processors, 768MB GDDR4 memory stocking at 2200, core running at 700Mhz, 30% faster than the 8800 Ultra.......rumour has it Ohhhh all with the most insane cooling you have ever seen.

That rumour has been around since Feb, many didnt beleive it, I was sucpicious when I saw it in the Inquirer (as most are), then it started appearing in NV forums and Nvidia people were kind of adding to the rumours....nice marketing ploy I thought

I don't see why it wouldn't make sense to create an even larger dominace of the market.

Cause in that way it would BURY the previous GPU thus killing sales.
Remember that companies Always want to have cheaper solutions...Now if they were to release the 9000 series and price them over 1500$ then ok it could be 3 times faster than the 700$ 8800 ultra.....

let me guess, if the ultra was "X" expensive, let me think... with nv's rip off policy i reckon you will need at least your first born child to pay for anything higher...

and then again, it would probs b cheaper to go ati and link a few hi end cards up and beat their offering... for less than it would cost for 1 nv card

then again, we gotta wait for pricing, it may be a good deal! who knows..

I would at least be expecting to re-mortgage one of my houses for one.....any thing less than that has got to be a bargain
