A long time ago, a memory manufacturer named Corsair entered the PC power-supply market and would go on to become one of the highest-volume brands in the DIY space. ADATA is making a similar bet with its XPG Core Reactor family of performance-segment fully-modular PSUs. These puppies target the meat of the market, with 550W, 650W, 750W, and 850W capacities, and 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating. All models boast of compact 14 cm length, and are cooled by 120 mm fluid-dynamic bearing fans. The 550W model puts out two 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, the 650W model four, and the rest six. All models 650W and above come with two 4+4 pin EPS outputs.
Under the hood, the XPG Core Reactor features a single +12V rail design, and protections against over/under-voltage, overload, over-current, overheat, no-load operation, and short-circuit. The AC receptacle also has an integrated anti-surge and in-rush current component. Based on the reception of these models, ADATA said it would expand its investment in this market, particularly as demand for PSUs with two EPS connectors rises.
