Leaked 3DMark Time Spy Result shows Radeon RX 5700 XT matching GeForce RTX 2070

Reviewers should have received their Radeon "Navi" review samples by now, so it's just natural that the number of leaks is increasing. WCCFTech has spotted one such leak in the 3DMark Time Spy database. The card which is just labeled "Generic VGA" achieved a final score of 8575 points, GPU score of 8719 and 7843 CPU points, which is almost identical to WCCFTech's own comparison benchmarks for the GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition (8901). The Vega 64 scored 7427, which leads WCCFTech to believe this must be Radeon RX 5700 XT. The result has since been removed from the 3DMark database, which also suggests it's for an unreleased product.

I guess AMD's claims of much improved IPC on Navi are true, the fact its outperforming the Vega 64 class cards with a (notionally) lower Tflops count is encouraging, especially for next gen consoles.

It sadly proves that game devs if they wish can shift the best performing GPU arch as they please. AMD or Nvidia.

The amount of ROPS was half on what 5700XT has if i'm correct.

Or kind of like what ATI did way back in the day when they released the Radeon 9700 Pro and followed it up a year later with the bigger and better 9800 Pro/XT.

Following this theory, if a 5800 XT comes out next year, it'll hopefully push the 5700 series into a more budget bracket that is currently held by the RX 570/580. I'm quietly anticipating Vega 56 bargains to show up on the second hand market in the mean time.

It will definitely be interesting to see how it develops over the next year or so.

better IPC in GPUs isn't always a good thing.

GPUs are way more complex than CPUs and enginners can do trade offs to improve the IPC. you might have heard that recent architectures have had a worsen IPC to improve the frequency...

Probably not but 200$ difference is absurd don't you think? If anything the MSRP for the 2080 super will be 2080's MSRP at launch. Definitely not less.

At best nvidia will put the Super cards at non super MSRPs, so you'll be lucky to get the regular 2080 for $599. Why would nvidia slash prices on their high end when AMD did not even announce anything at that level yet?

It's the other way around, GPUs are greatly simplified compared to CPUs, that's how they can put orders of magnitude more execution units.

it has been a 699$ card for some months now, actually. The 2070 was a 499$ card since the beginning, and a 479$ card for about a month so far.

I actually tried looking up the price of the Windforce model at launch but I didn't find it. Regardless, I think it's somewhat safe to expect the new 2080 Super FE is going to come out at the previous 2080's MSRP, based on the available leaks. They really have no competition at this level, so "aggressive" pricing is not necessary.

You mean a blower style? I'm aware. I listened to that Full Nerd AMD special on my way to work today and they explained why they went with blower style over an axial fan design (tldr: they said they can guarantee their numbers with a blower, even if the user has a terrible cooled case, whereas an axial fan design could struggle. They are relying on partners to bring the kick-ass designs).
3rd party cards shouldn't be too far off, there's already an Asus leak, at least.

EDIT: Just read on wccftech (some salt needed?) the MSRP for the 2080 Super is going to be $699 so it seems I was wrong there (also $499 for the 2070 and $399 for the 2060).

I was about to comment the same thing when I saw your post. However, if we compare real-world gaming performance to the results on 3DMark, we can see that AMD results are slightly higher in 3DMark than they end up being in real-world games. My guess is that this will results in AMD's 5700XT slightly trailing the RTX 2070.

this isn't enough. Real world benching is needed to see if the $450 price tag is justifiable or not.
