I am sorry, but Nvidia Super just stole the thunder of unreleased product, especially RTX 2070 Super neck to neck and sometimes beat R7

The Super release hasn't stole anything's thunder with those release prices. And let's be honest, people like you would have bought one regardless of how cheap or fast these AMD cards are because 'Nvidya'.

Because they work, Nvidia is selling Quadros that cost thousands of dollars with blowers. That means they do their job just fine.

Nice trolling effort there as in 2 weeks there will be some custom ones on sale. So, if the appearance was the problem to you buying those, now you know...

They look quite different from the old XFX design.

AMD hasn't changed their blower design for almost 15 years, why is there no effort to inovate? Do something different.

At least nVidia tries to mix up the design a little once in a while and looking at how cool the RTX Super cards stay under heavy load, i'd say they are doing a pretty good job at the r&d department.

Meh, not that it matters really but they aren't exactly worlds apart.

They have a vapor chamber, metal shroud, same as Nvidia reference blowers what's there to innovate ?

Who cares about reference models? Nearly nobody buys those. And if it looks broken but it's not, what happens? :O Your 2070S and 2080S are still expensive AF.

I'm certainly in the minority here (not that I mind), but I actually like the 'dent'. Especially with the lines in the shroud that accentuate it. I also feel blowers have their place in certain cases, nothing wrong with offering it as an option. AIB's will cover the open fan designs.

Quadros are intended to be used in systems where airflow is a known quantity. They're also not intended to be overclocked.

It's a tribute to Raja dropping the rx480

This one here knows what's up :D So you remember that Linus video too, huh? What a stunt was that... I think without even realizing it, it confirms his entire personality. Clumsy, careless, and he frankly doesn't give a rat's ass. I'm waiting for the first Intel Xe to get dropped like a baby.

For those who missed it - Raja's 1 minute of fame

Reminds me of the 'fake Iphones' as if there is a radically other way to make a phone that has to be mostly screen :D But joke aside, yeah, they share a lot of aesthetics there

Better than Nvidia's scrap paper design.

So new design for 5700 XT and old but slick Vega design for 5700.

Do you really find these cards more aesthetically pleasing than the reference NVIDIA RTX line-up?

For people genuinely wandering about blower fan and not trolling, there was an episode of Full Nerd with two guys from AMD where, amongst many other topics, they explain the blower (link), give it a watch.

Basically, they know most enthusiasts prefer axial coolers and know how to cool a PC , but not everyone does, and with a blower they can guarantee performance in any case, plus AIB models are coming soon.

Exactly this. The vast majority of people who would/will be buying these are regular consumers who just want it to work. The blower is a safe bet to meet that expectation from those who don't know, or don't care, about anything more than the device working.

Despite claims to the contrary, neither AMD nor nVidia give two fucks about the gamers who optimize things like airflow etc., they/we are not the target consumer, the average Jane/Joe are the target consumers and they pay the majority of the bills.

For me, there is a simple metric here. The AMD cards have FOSS drivers
( in the Linux environment ) and therefore are my go to choice. As we've
recently seen, older nVidia cards tend to lose support and when that happens
you have a paper weight. Realistically, under these circumstances, AMD
becomes the first choice even when it isn't the superior solution. But then again,
+/- 10% on a card that has proper support is not really going to make THAT
much difference ...except to actual competition gamers.

I do, Nvidia sure has beefy coolers, they look capable and I like how their fans look.

But that 5700XT I think looks way better, just pure looks, I like the monolith straight black, I like the lines, and I like the "dent" as people here seem to like to call it, it breaks up the line, its odd and playful and just says design.
Like a Nighthawk stealth plane.

Blower cooler in 2019, why do they even bother.

If there was actual progress, aka cars continually requiring LESS power instead of more, a blower would be fine.
Sadly this is not the case, more performance but also at the cost of more power usage.
