EK Teases its Premium Full-coverage Water Block for AMD Navi

It turns out that the EK-Vector isn't the only water-block family to feature models compatible with AMD Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards. The Slovenian water-cooling major has plans for a truly unique block design for "Navi," building on AMD's "bend the rules" design language used on its reference RX 5700 XT graphics card. The unnamed single-slot, full-coverage water block covers the entire length of the AMD-reference PCB for the RX 5700-series, and appears to feature an metal or POM acetal top that's been molded along the lines of the reference air cooler. A metallic "Radeon" logo dominates the front-face of the block. The company didn't reveal details such as whether the block has RGB LED embellishments. It didn't mention a launch date, either.

I don't know much about it yet, but I REALLY like they kept homage to the bend!

As long as it's still 1 slot thick, 2 slots is soooooo passé...

Might as well just get an RTX 2070 Super.

Why? It costs £100 more, is about the same performance (around 4% faster for the 2070s average) and the 5700XT is just released with new drivers, new code etc. The 2070s is built on well known drivers/code and thus not likely to gain much compared to the 5700XT.

Not to mention a lot of what holds the 5700XT further back is thermals, so a waterblock like this on top of the card (which is likely about the same price then) seems much better options if you are wanting to go WC route.

Please love of god just keep your AMD mouth piece closed! People are allowed to discuss their opinions on cards without others screaming at them for having a different opinion. The 5700xt isnt all some thought it would be, you'll just have to deal with it.

And how much is the 5700xt waterblock cost again? oh, right, they easily cost $100+ on their own, not including the cost of the pump, fluid, tubing, radiator, ece. For the cost of the watercooler and 5700xt you could just buy a 2070 super that doesnt NEED watercooling to perform at full speed and pocket the remaining cash, hell you may be close to 2080 pricing by that point.

EDIT: I just looked it up, the 5700xt is $400, the waterblock will be at least $100, a kit with a waterblock/radiator/tubing/fluid for a card that size runs about $220 for a basic setup. That is $620. $629 will buy you a MSI 2080 as of writing this comment. Only a fool/fanboi would spend that much on making an AMD card run at full speed, the rest of us looking for bang-for-the-buck at that price would either spring for a 2070 super, which would be cheaper then a watercooled 5700xt, or a 2080, which will outperform said watercooled 5700xt.

Erm, the 5700XT doesn't NEED WC either, as @Curlyriff pointed out, for those that want to WC it makes it even better value. There are other reasons to WC other than a card needing it to work properly, e.g. near silent operation, single slot ability. I'm sure people LC their 2060s and 2070s and thus pay even more and get less value.

Partner boards will arrive in a few weeks that will be cooler, quieter and possibly faster. There will also likely be newer drivers and maybe higher clocks so performance will also improve.

The original comment was inflammatory (trolling) and elicited the expected (and accurate) response. Why would you pay 100 more for the same performance? The 2060/70 level cards will not do RT effects without serious performance loss, so that feature is DoA and is the only thing they may have had over 5700.

Nice waterblock. I'm not fan of transparent blocks. Except if not other choice. Than better transparent block then air cooling.
Demand for Navi waterblocks will be big and brands who prepare block on time will profit most. Only price can't be similar to price of GTX1080Ti/RTX2080Ti blocks.
Because owner of NAVI are people who can't afford RTX2080Ti or RTX2080 Super.
