Glorious PC Gaming Race Unveils the Model O- Mouse Weighing 58 Grams

The race for the ultralight-weight mouse is on, and all seem to adopt the honeycomb cutout design too. After Glorious PC Gaming Race impressed us heavily with their Model O mouse that came in ~67-68 grams, we saw Cooler Master's MM710 shown off at Computex this year rated at under 53 grams! While neither company was the first to use this design, the MM710 is still another 1.5 months away from retail release and the the former saw a window to release their new Model O- mouse at Quakecon last week.

The Model O- ("Minus") is a smaller version of the Model O, and otherwise will come in all four variants of color and finish options the Model O does. It is rated at 58 grams (matte finish, 59 for the glossy finish) without the cable, 1.5-3 mm smaller in all dimensions relative to the Model O, features the same internal guts with the excellent Pixart PMW3360 optical sensor, and is now up for pre-order at the same $49.99 on their website. If you felt you wanted a smaller mouse that was even lighter, there is now another option for you to choose from. I can only imagine how much dead skin and palm sweat that will collect over the years, let's not forget Cheetos and Doritos "dust"...

My gawd, what a nightmare will that be in just one month's time.
(And also very difficult to clean, since 1st) need to open the mouse and probably void the warranty 2nd) how exactly do you clean between electronic components?

It would be difficult to clean. I guess this is just for show but imo that seems useless to buy a mouse just for show and not use it.

Those holes save a minuscule amount of weight, no idea why this trend started. Also, who can use THAT light mouse? I have a g203 which is 85g and it feels kinda light for a large mousepad.
Light mouse means more muscle movement at lower DPI which is good. There is a limit though, as you go lighter you lose precision so you must lower your dpi but that means more movement.
At 58g you will need a soccer field of mousepad to be precise

Its not for weight saving its for hot hands. Or anyone like me who suffers from carpal tunnel. TT ventus started this trend and while it had other drawbacks that made me buy a Zowie it was a very comfortable mouse for the hand. They lose the dpi button and put it on the bottom like the Zowie and its the perfect mouse. As for cleaning its not an issue. Ran the Ventus for 6 months no issue.

I think they built this for special snowflakes who believe every gramme and every ms is giving them a potential advantage.

I too think these mice are stupid, but come on people. How dirty is your regular mouse getting now? I don't know if maybe my hands are cleaner than most, but unless you're mainlining cheetos without a napkin nearby (or using chopsticks, protip) or playing in 85 degree F rooms, then I don't see how this is going to be some catastrophe of caked on human butter. I just did a test by getting a paper towel and wiping my mouse down with soapy water. It didn't discolor or anything.

I would never use this mouse as I game to have fun, not on a competitive level. But I can't imagine how sweat and dirt is going to DROP into your mouse. More likely the outside lattice will pick up whatever your normal, clothes-on mouse would, and the skin in contact with the holes will hold onto whatever disgusting grime you people are building up on the regular. I see it as a non-issue and the worst thing about this mouse is the holes are largely unnecessary and ugly.

These comments.... WOW. I own a few variations of these mice with holes and they really do feel good if you're the type of player that plays at a low dpi and tend to pick up the mouse often. Now keep in mind before everyone starts to shove their preferred play style down our throats. It's all about preference just like keyboards and switches. Everyone is gonna like what they like. Can you tell the difference? You tell me. Some people like heavier mice, some people like larger mice. It depends on you.

As for comments about it failing due to sweat and dirt. That's over exaggerated, projecting much?

Holes and structural integrity of these mice also isn't that bad. At least for the Glorious Model O and Final Mouse Ultralight mice. They don't collapse when pressing on the chassis as some may think would happen. There's a structural foundation underneath it all. If push comes to shove yea sure you can puncture it for those with the intent to break it.

I for one am excited about the Model O-. And yes I can feel the difference between my Logitech GPro Wireless, FM Ultralight Pro, and Glorious Model O. To each they're own.

As someone with Arthritis, I've gotta say, I'm a convert to these mice. Hand stays cooler, which means less sweat, which means I don't have to grip my mouse so hard, which hurts my hands less.

I still have two ergonomic style mice (a Evoluent VerticalMouse C & a Finalmouse Classic Ergo) for desktop work (The FM CE just didn't work for me with FPS sadly), but for FPS gaming, I've loved both my FM Air and current Glorious.

Yep, I run into so many that complain of wrist or hand pain. It is always their mouse hand and when questioned about the weight, they all say some kind of ultra light because of...marketing. The ones that add some kind of fishing weight/etc and start using heavier, get relief and the problem goes away. Those that still believe the marketing, medical bills.

You're right about that but look at the comments up here. Magical qualities are attributed to a low weight mouse as if they didn't already exist for years, as if these holes are even in the slightest way a necessity. Its funny to see, and I'm always happy to counteract that with a touch of reality. See the carpal tunnel comment. Over a decade of research and we ended up with an a-typical mouse shape for that specific ailment, but here we find people promoting a super basic mouse as a cure for all sorts of similar ailments... People are just copying a marketing line. The real story is, if you have carpal tunnel, the last thing you should be doing is play competitive shooters.

Playstyles with different mice are not new and widely recognized so its really not that, at all. Everyone here with a bit of knowledge knows all about palm and claw grippers. Nothing new. This mouse is just a light claw gripper with a good sensor & shape and uses those holes to stand out from the crowd of 100% similar mice already in existence...
