Here's the first picture of a possible custom-design Radeon RX 5700-series graphics card by XFX. The company could leverage this common board design to develop both Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 products. The design involves a large custom-design cooling solution that uses an aluminium fin-stack heatsink that's ventilated by a pair of large 100 mm fans. It's likely that the card will offer idle fan-stop looking at the size of the heatsink and the idle power-draw of the "Navi 10" silicon. The card could also feature some RGB LED embellishments. At this point it's not known if XFX has designed its own custom-design PCB for the "Navi 10," or whether it's using a reference- or close-to-reference PCB design. AMD's add-in board partners are expected to launch custom-design RX 5700-series products in August.

Nah not really feeling it, way too wide, so many wide video cards now, go back to your HD7970/280X designs.

Not only that, the card physically looks cheaply build as well.

honestly couldn't care less how "cheaply built" it looks as long as the heatsink and fans do a good job of dissipating the heat

+1. I know they want to get bigger rad surface and bigger fans for lower RPM and lower noise, but SO wide....I kinda like to have it around the PCB size, no too much sticking on the sides.

At XFX it seems they have a huge talent for the most awful designs there are.

If you can't handle some simple negative criticism then that's your problem.

XFX's whole design team needs to get fired. Their last few products have been disgusting as hell.

#XFX_PlayHard

That's a bit harsh, the colour scheme looks fine TBH it's just widely shaped.

I can handle plenty of negative criticism, im usually the one dishing it out so sorry, that comment makes no sense and worse, dodges the issue.
If you dont buy a (competent) graphicscard based on how it looks then you have problems.

Build quality matters because cheaply build coolers might use sleeve bearing fans that tends to rattle after a couple of years.
The way that GPU are installed in most cases means the fans will be blowing upward and that is the worst for sleeve bearing fans.
The blower on the reference cards might not be the best for performance, but at least they are dual-ball bearing fans which can be very durable.
If you dont buy a (competent) graphicscard based on how it looks then you have problems.
And how do you know this particular card is competent without it getting benchmarked yet?

Have you ever seen the Fiat Multipla? Still UGLY AF regardless of how competent it is at carrying people.

It actually has a decent back plate too, the issue was the picture was only showing the cheap plastic shroud on the fan side.

As for the Yeston card, I don't see how the aesthetics has anything to do with the build quality.
It is using the type of plastic that might be prone to get brittle over time with heat, and fans on the XFX looks alarmingly similar.
The issue is, Yeston if one of the cheapest brands, XFX not so much.
Also XFX went backwards and do away with the replacable fans on their earlier Polaris cards.

I don't like the design, but if the price and performance are right I don't care, I will take it! Will be hidden inside my case anyway.

That card is just way too tall. I don't know why you would sacrifice compatibility with a substantial chunk of SFF cases just for that hump. My new EVGA 2070 Super Black actually doesn't even extend past the PCIe bracket, and is only two slots. Comparing the TDPs, they could have easily made the card smaller except for their questionable aesthetic choices.

I give XFX some credit, it can't be easy being stuck as an AMD only AIB.

As long as it performs well it is fine. Never cared much about the design. :)

The heatsink is covered by the shroud and the backplate right where the air should be freely let out

There's plenty of space for the air to get out of the heatsink, I doubt that's going to make that much of a difference. Unfortunately, it's also pretty terrible looking so even if it doesn't impact temps, it deserves to go.

I guess this settles it. XFX manage to make an AIB card runs a bit slower than the reference blower.
