News made the rounds recently of AMD's Lisa Su's reported plans of leaving the company in favor of a #2 position at IBM. The report, which was broken by WCCFTech, pegged Lisa Su as already being sprucing up her successor in the form of Rick Bergman, who recently joined AMD after leaving his CEO position with Synaptics.

Now, Lisa Su herself has come out on Twitter to say that there was zero truth to the report, and that she plans to stay with AMD, where "the best is yet to come". Of course, no CEO would confirm such a report from a media outlet - these things take their time and are done in their own corporate way, and there's really no other response that Lisa Su could have given that wouldn't damage AMD's current outlook. Her presence and confidence in her delivery is part of the reason for investor confidence in AMD. That said, I doubt there would be a better time for Lisa Su to actually move higher up in her own career perspectives than from AMD's current state.

You guys didn't read the article did you ? Don't get me wrong i don't know if shes leaving or not ( only she knows ) but as stated in the article there isn't really any other comment she could make even if she is actually leaving , because that could damage AMD ! One thing is sure , if she wants a better position that's the right moment to make the move !

Oh, yeah, she would leave to go down a rank in a company that she doesn’t truly believe in as much as AMD......

AMD has become her child. I truly believe it wouldn’t be in the position it is today without her. She spearheaded the whole operation into the success it is today.

Agreed. Lisa Su has been really good for AMD and pretty much turned the company around from possible bankruptcy a few years ago to profitable with a mostly bright future today.

Bro you are comparing a 80 billion dollar company ( IBM ) vs a 6,5 billion dollar company ( AMD ) that's a massive difference , #2 at IBM ( with possibility to become #1 in the future ) will pay MUCH better than #1 at AMD even in 1000years ! You underestimate how much peoples believe in money ......

I never even read about that rumor but I also don't visit wccftech.

The last year especially I am almost thinking WCCFTech needs to be banned from reputable sites like OCN and TPU. They no longer deserve a voice, they are a clickbait cash grab site now, and they have no right being apart of our community. We may fight amongst ourselves sometimes, but that is just part of it, we are still a community that share the passions for these hobbies

Plot twist: Lisa joining as Intel CEO

Benchmark Scores #1 worldwide on 3D Mark 99, back in the (P133) days. :)
@Raevenlord I think there absolutely will be a better time for her to move on (if she chooses).
How about when the new consoles, Rome, Milan and the new GPUs are all succesfully launching and the company is profitable?
If AMD gets to that point under her leadership, she could have any job she wants or more likely, wouldn't need to move at all and might start acquiring other companies.

@lynx29 Agreed, "Where Consumers Come First" my eye. ;)

@RH92 She gets a shed load of options at AMD, if she can grown the company (like nVidia did) to $300, that's a huge pile of cash plus the added kudos of pulling AMD out of the gutter. IMO that will be of more interest than moving. Maybe later, but not for another 2 years anyway.

AdoredTV alone spread more BS than all wccf tech articles in the last year, and most of you believed on 8 core/16t chips at 5ghz all core and 250€ price (lel).

Wccf this year were the first ones reporting:

2070 super specs
Navi pre launch price drop
9900ks
MSI b450 max

And the list goes on. For a "fud" website, not bad at all.

AMD's stocks will tank if she leaves, so it would be a real crappy move to this community when she was the main rallying point for everyone. I agree with you to a degree though, I could care less either way to be honest, lol

AMD stock is where it is today because of good products and good roadmap not because of Lisa's presence per say ! Same goes for the community , community buys CPUs and GPUs not Lisas so yeah .....

I think you underestimate the morale boost she had a play in among her engineers, etc. AMD was literally $1 a share before her arrival. She was part of it. No doubt about it.

Or you are probably overestimating it ? I mean what do peoples imagine AMD engineers worshiping Lisa every morning before they start to work ? Don't get me wrong ofc Lisa is a key factor to sucess ( she has to put the right people in the right place and give them the right direction ) but as long as AMD engineers have good working conditions , a solid roadmap / clear goals etc they should be able to execute without many issues .

Besides this is unrelated to my point , my point was what stock market and community cares the most about are good products not the name of the CEO .

1. AMD's stock won't tank if she leaves. If she leaves good people in charge with a clear roadmap and solid products on the shelf and in the pipeline, the stock might dip, but it won't tank. People seem to think she is solely responsible for AMD's turnaround. Yes, she was and is an important part of their success, but so are a lot of other people. It's not like she is designing products or even setting architectures.

2. If she is "the main rallying point" for "the community", then "the community" is in trouble. There is no guarantee that she is at AMD forever and if they crumble because of one person leaving, then they were poorly built and led to begin with (meaning she didn't do part of her job). A great CEO builds a leadership team that can continue to perform after the CEO is gone. Yes, they would miss her, but they should be able to continue in without her.

Alright, I will concede with that, tank was a bad choice of word. Dip is a better term you are correct. I agree it will dip if she leaves.

She's good at juggling priority and right now AMD can't afford juggling mistakes if they want to stay competitive so if she's actually leaving AMD then good luck for her successor
