Can I ask people a simple question? Why would you risk your system's stability with features that your board wasn't intended to support? If you're using an NVMe card, you very well could find yourself with corrupted data as a result. The bottom line is that if something goes wrong with PCIe 4 on an older board, people will want someone to blame and they're not likely to blame themselves if you don't have to go out of your way to do it without a huge warning telling you about the risks. Simply put, having PCIe 4 running on a system not intended to run it is like playing with fire. It's not okay just because you don't always burn the house down.
Exactly.

What do you mean doesn't look like they meet signal integrity ?

There are plenty of boards on this list who meet signal integrity for Gen 4 x16 and on top of that this list only shows what ASUS has validated so it's not final ( unless ASUS wants us to believe that their low end boards have better built quality than their top of the line boards ) + this is only one board vendor !

WTF is you talking about man ? Guy pulls some generic technical term out of internet in order to make himself look like he knows something and thinks people are goin to fall for his BS !

Here is how PCIe lanes are distributed for 3000 series CPUs , so fist your eyes on it and educate yourself !

https://www.techpowerup.com/img/x5IOE9hplxgQwNWM.jpg

CPU provides one direct x16 Gen 4 lane to the first PCIe slot on the mobo ( assuming it meets the signal integrity requirements incase on a PCIe slot built to respect PCIe 3.0 specifications ) and one direct X4 Gen4 PCIe lane for NVMe or SATA . It doesn't work like this ? LOL man you are a joke !

Anyways enough time lost with trolls of your kind , in the trash bin you go !

Murmur all you want it ain't going to change anything. Stability is needed.

Perhaps some glue may help your problem

Would help if you actually read up on it .

Key word to all this being '' COULD '' . If in this case AMD was consumer-friendly instead of being motivated by money they could make a public disclaimer and let peoples decide what they like to do with their machines instead of killing the support .

You might be right about the money motivation. Asus wanting to sell more boards then their competition. Why else bypass PCI-SIG certification if your not try'n to get more profit under the radar?

Nicely tried to move the goalpost ! Ofc it was bloody clear i was talking about AMD not ASUS but hey let's assume ASUS is trying to do that .... well that would be true if ASUS where the only ones to offer PCIe 4.0 on older gen so they could take advantage on their competition ..... surprise ...... they aren't , MSI , Asrock , Gigabyte do the same , so how does this logic work ? Besides one would believe if those companies where motivated by money they wouldn't promote PCIe 4.0 on older gen mobos cause that directly harms their X570 mobo sales !

Im afraid the only one taking money driven decisions here is AMD !

Gotta justify the X570 price hike somehow.

The rise in price is due to the components used on the MBs and the PCB layers (not saying there are not some that are price gouging). That does justify the prices of X570. PCI_E 4.0, Wifi 6, 14 phase VRMs (without doublers). What people should be talking about is the rise of X470 boards price in the last 9 months.

Your posts suggests all boards have these features (they don't). Cheapest boards out there are still $170+ dollars and those don't have Wi-Fi 6 (or any at all), or 14-phase VRMs (robust is the point, not the count). 6-layer is pretty common outside of lesser chipset potato boards, it was 8-10 that is considered 'more'.

Almost all of those are complete and utterly pointless on the mainstream platform like the 14 phase part, you're never going to see Zen saturate those kinda of VRMs and it's nothing more than money wasting on a weak platform, B450 can run almost all of the 3rd gen zen and X470 will have no issue with the 3900x..... It's all price hiking in reality and pushing up pricing.

kinda funny those same people argued 1800x/2700x were fine for a b350,but suddenly you need a $250 board while cpus are more power efficient.

ACtually, there is some merit to having a quality board... just not 14 phases, lol...

Here are 2 links for the cheapest X470 and X570 boards on Newegg.ca. The difference between them is $35. Not saying that either of them are something I would purchase. What is the difference between them; better memory support, A full PCI_E 3.0x4 2nd M2 slot.

Regardless of whether or not some of the technologies on X570 are relevant for the mainstream they all cost money to implement. When we went from X370 to X470 there was nowhere as much new tech

Let's look at high end

Both of those As rock are about $450 but which one would you buy? The other thing is that we do not yet have any 550 boards to compare to 450.

Kapone...... my dude. Can you please take your time and get your posts right (I swear like 1/3 are borked like this!!)? You have, again jammed things in the middle of someone else's quote and it is incredibly difficult to see what is what........ take your time before you hit post. :)

Not this much money to implement. The average difference/range between boards X470 to X570 is a lot bigger. On average the meat of the boards is notably higher, nearly pushing $300+ while Intel's median is around $250.

Also, $35 difference is like 20% cost difference between bottom dwellers. The difference in Z370 to Z390 currently on newegg (US) is $6. If you compare Z370 to Z390 the same board, the difference is $1 (Asus Z370-P and Z390-P not counting for sales, just MSRP).

I know it is getting to me too  . I will see what I can do to fix that. I totally agree with your assessment concerning AMD vs Intel board prices.

We won't see DDR5 on the consumer level until at least 2021. Intel's next mainstream chipset will not have it in 2020. Sorry.
You may be right, but still worth the wait. Plus 6nm EUV tech for Ryzen 4000 and 5000 series

Do tell why it's worth the wait....

Its more bandwidth amd lower voltage... like DDR3 to 4... wont make a difference really as most things arent bandwidth starved in the first place.

I like protein folding exoplanet hunting and SETI and mersenne prime searching all bandwidth limited programs so that’s why I’m looking forward to new tech like ddr5 and EUV

Some people in here need a box of these

to build a bridge and get over it

It is what it is folks AMD don't want x470 or lower to have PCIe4.0 so just deal with it if can't then don't update your BIOS but be warned if shit hits the fan blame your mobo manufacturer not AMD
