ASUS Outs ROG Strix Scope TKL Deluxe Keyboard

ASUS today rolled out the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix Scope TKL Deluxe gaming keyboard. This tenkeyless keyboard is roughly 60% the volume of a full-size keyboard, and has 84 keys. The keyboard features a detachable cushioned palm-rest with faux-leather upholstery. This palm-rest snaps into place with magnetic locks, much like an iPad Smart Cover. The top-plate of the keyboard is made of brushed aluminium. The keycaps are raised above the top-plate.

Function keys F5 to F12 are macroed out, and in their place, ASUS put media control buttons as the primary function. You don't need to hold down any key to switch between the media keys and the Function keys, a 2-way switch does that. The "Stealth Key" is a glorified boss key that hides all your apps and mutes audio for instant privacy. Under the hood, the ROG Strix Scope TKL has Cherry MX RGB mechanical switches, and comes in a variety of flavors such as MX Speed Silver, MX Red, MX Brown, and MX Blue. The electronics provide N-key rollover and anti-ghosting. ASUS Aura Sync RGB handles the keyboard's lighting including color configuration for individual keys. The company didn't reveal pricing.

OMG they really said faux-leather upholstery as if it was a good thing, don't get me wrong leather would be horrid in warmer conditions it's just that they did not say some thing other than fake leather basically which only puts pealing black crap in my mind.

I think it's supposed to match your Walmart computer chair. Because let's face it... when you buy the extras from Asus you can't afford much else. But at least if you buy them together you can tell people you're going for that flakey look. Not so bad.

oh it's cute .... way better than other recent TKL which use too much vertical space about the same ideal size as the one i use now (with the PrtSc/ScrLK/Pause button removed for the sake of their R.O.G. logo nonetheless )

i hope it will not be more than 120$ because that's the price of my GMMK TKL 2.0 with 120 Gateron Red 104 white caps oh, wait ok 155/165 if including a wrist rest (165 for the wooden one) should be a little lower since even tho it's a plate mounted switch, it's surely not modular.

for 99/120$ it would be a pretty neat TKL keyboard, it's the price of a MSI Vigor GK70, Ducky One 2 TKL or a Corsair K63 which use too much vertical space well 85$ can also get some nice sample in the form of a Kingston HyperX Alloy FPS Pro which is about the same ideal size as that Strix Scope or my GMMK TKL or a older but still not bad G410.

i would gladly consider that one aside the faux leather which would be a pain for comfort (sweating .... )

well if it is above 120$ as i mentioned ... there is plenty of concurrent model from various brands that would do just as good as that one and make it not worth it ...

that would be a idiotic move from Asus ... but who knows

(i considere 120$ as the acceptable upper limit for a TKL mech keyboard, a little more if switch swap capable but that one is not hehehe )

not the same scenario even tho the Claymore can be a compact TKL (or a lefties full size KB ) at around 195chf for the full Claymore and 159chf for the "Core" version is just plain stupid which doesn't bode well for that Strix Scope future price

the only saving grace for that one is the modular numpad, well ... i can add a numpad, modular-mech, simple-mech or not, to my current setup for around 10 to 22$/chf which would be to 51 to 49$/chf less than what would a complete Claymore would cost, with the benefit to be modular, aside also the fact that it need a wrist rest to be up to the Strix Scope, versus the Claymore it it mitigated ... since it doesn't have a wrist rest (or not what we would technically call a comfortable wrist rest which is baffling at that price).
