ASUS formally launched the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card, which was pictured yesterday. The White Edition features a whitewashing of the cooler shroud, the back-plate, secondary base-plate underneath the cooler shroud, internal cables, and white Axial Tech fans. These fans feature webbed fan blades that direct all their airflow axially, onto the heatisink below.

The heatsink and the black PCB underneath are identical to that of the ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti O11G, but what's changed are clock speeds. It turns out that the 1770 MHz GPU Boost previously reported referred to the software-activated "OC mode." Out of the box, this card comes with 1740 MHz GPU Boost, which is still a step up from the 1650 MHz that the O11G ships with. The card draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include two each of DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, and one VirtualLink. We know from the older report that this card is selling in the EU for 1,600€ (including VAT).

Any news on the rumoured 2080 super competitor or would 7nm Navi draw more than 350W getting there?

I don't understand people paying 1600 usd for a GPU and having a 250w heat and energy consumption monster. But I suppose there is a market for it.

Meanwhile you can get an EVGA XC Ultra for $1049 today. Which IMO is a MUCH better deal due to their after sales support, etc.

^^THIS^^ which is false advertising IMHO, as I have been repeatedly saying for over 2 years now.... is it REALLY that hard to make a white pcb, heatsinks, and pcie bracket, I mean really.... and for almost $1800, cost should not be an issue in any way, shape or form ......:kookoo:...

You could build an entire computer that would come close to the performance of one of these cards for that amount of money.

Coolest card I have even seen. I wish I had a mini atx mother board to match this.

1600 Euro for air cooled 2080Ti? When you can get e.g. EVGA HydroCooper model for 40ish Euro less??? Not to mention vastly superior customer service of EVGA. And for 20 Euros more you can get extra 5 years warranty extension after registering EVGA card.

Asus, what are you smoking up there?

ASUS are definitely expensive, but then as GPP showed some are really precious over their ROG branding.

That was true more than decade ago ... but after sales support is terrible and has been since 2009 ... Been there, done that over and over and over again. Last experiences ... 20 support calls, 10 months, 5 RMAs. They try and wear you out by making you go thru all the same test and procedures before they will go past "Hello" ... 20 minutes of proving to them, it's not the PSU, not the memory, not anything else ... same thing ya did on Call No. 1 ya have to do again on call 2, 3, 4, 5 ....20. We finally busted them when we were doing a build for a client ... w/ twin cards in SLI. I "borrowed them", overclocked those 2 cards 31% and they ran fine ... the EVGA card couldn't manage it's factory OC w/o crashing ... they finally gave up and sent a next generation SC card .... it wasn't as fast as competing AIB cards, but it was faster than the last gen one we wrestled with for 18 months. Hard to call the SC series an AIB card when it uses the same PCB as reference card.

After that, then came all the failed designs .... the 570 VRM failures ... the 970 SC where 1/3 of the heat sink missed the GPU ... the 1060, 1070. 1080 SC / FTW fires and subsequent recall. Remember when Asus won the performance title every new generation ? ... that also has not been true since the 6xx series.

No one today has what would be called good tech support a decade ago. EVGA and Asus however have hit new heights in customer frustration in recent years where every call begins with making you do long lists of tests and call backs for things that have nothing to do with the problem. The email responses are always signed with someone's 1st name but every response says the exact same thing cause they are bot generated. I even get e-mail responses sent "over the internet" telling me the steps I need to go thru to have them "get me on the internet".

And while the card may be thought to be inexpensive ... better performance costs more.
