AOC Launches CQ27G2U and Q27G2U Monitors: 27" VA, 2560 x 1440, 144 Hz, 1 ms, FreeSync

AOC today launched two new interestingly specced and priced monitors. The CQ27G2U and Q27G2U are basically the same monitor with only one distinguishing feature: the CQ27G2U features a 1500R curved panel while the Q27G2U is a flat panel monitor. Apart from that, specs are identical between the two. There's a 27" VA panel with 2560 x 1440 (QHD) resolution; 144 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time. there's FreeSync support, albeit in a limited range of 48 Hz through 144 Hz, so these monitors won't really help you keep fluidity in lower frames per second.

Maximum brightness of the panels is pretty low at 250 nits, and color coverage is good enough for office work or gaming at 120% sRGB, 90% Adobe RGB and 85% NTSC coverage. Being a VA panel, contrast ratio stands at a respectable 3000:1. I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, and there's also a 4x USB 3.0 hub, Headphone out and 2x 2 W speakers also make an appearance. The non-curved Q27G2U will be available for $299, while its curved sibling, the CQ27G2U, will retail for $20 more at $319.

Yep, I think we are now on the move for any "Gamer" thinking of a new panel is really aspiring to 1440p faster. The last 2-3 years between "mining" and not a lot of good priced and FreeSyn 1440p in the market it was stagnate. Now that we have strong 1440p capability in graphic card for $250-300, it's now the mainstream place to jump to.

It seems like we can't go a single day without a brand launching yet another 27" 1440p, 144hz monitor... I'm not wealthy or rich by any measure, but 27" is just too small [at least for me]. Regardless, I don't think anyone could argue against the fact that this monitor spec/tier is way, way over saturated

companies should try to stand out a bit, maybe all the same specs but with idk 600 nits or so, or maybe a sync range that goes as lot as 20 hz or SOMETHING

If I were in the market to upgrade, I'd probably get this.

Just wish they had kept the wired remote that my AG241QX has. That's a legitimately awesome feature.

EDIT: oof, 48Hz is the minimum refresh rate for Freesync. My AG241QX goes down to 30Hz, and the screen sometimes blacks out when the framerate goes under 30. Hope that's fixed.

I think you should go see an optician if 27" is too small for you. I have a 27" 4K monitor and imho, it's a good size for the resolution.

None of the standards allow for a range below 30Hz.

I have the CQ32G1 32" VA 144Hz 1440p curved panel and it's a great value screen, paid a touch over £300 for it so these panels should hopefully be equally competitive
Finding VA a great balance between TN and IPS while I wait to be rich

AMD has low frame rate compensation.
But 48 Hz is low enough.

Not true. I have plenty of clients who use the builtin speakers because they are good enough for what they need and they don't want to have desk space used up by external speakers. Try to remember that not everyone has the same preference as some of us enthusiasts.

New or interesting happens in the higher end and was paved by Asus ROGs and the like. You're clicking the wrong article here This is about it getting mainstream.

A few years ago we touted specs like these as a dream gamer's monitor. Now we have it and a lot of it. I'm happy...

AMD has low frame rate compensation. Google that.
