SilverStone Outs Argon AR12 RGB CPU Cooler

SilverStone today updated its Argon line of CPU coolers with the AR12 RGB. This tower-type cooler made its debut way back in the 2019 CES. It is essentially an AR12 heatsink that's designed for thermal loads of up to 125 W, mated to an RGB LED-illuminated split-blade fan. The 154 mm-tall aluminium fin-stack heatsink features narrower fins close to the base to offer better clearance around the CPU socket area.

Four 6 mm-thick copper heat-pipes make direct contact with the CPU at the base, and convey heat through the fin-stack. It is ventilated by a 120 mm spinner that turns at 700 to 2,200 RPM, pushing up to 68.9 CFM of air, with noise output ranging between 9 to 29 dBA. Among the CPU socket types supported are AM4, LGA115x, and LGA2066. Measuring 128 mm x 154 mm x 75 mm (WxHxD), it weighs 632 g. The fan takes in 4-pin PWM input for its primary function, and a classic 4-pin RGB connection for the lighting (not 3-pin 5 V ARGB).

That X-frame mounting mechanism on the 212 EVO is loosey-goose trash. This one uses screws, so it's already an upgrade.

The 212 LED also uses screws, but the fan is lower-quality than the EVO. Not much info on the fan for this one. If it has a decent fan and lower price, we've got something.

THe 212 will imo still be better than this will be, just for the mounting mechanism. I don't see where this could possibly be better.

this seems to be the same mount used by a few cheaper antec heatsinks aswell. (A30 or A40)
hopefully Silverstone implements this better, as the antec i used before did not provide enough pressure and were a pain to install.
The "Latch" system used here and by the stock AMD coolers also needs to go away.
