Bethesda today released the final system requirements for its upcoming massacre-fest Doom Eternal. The game, which is geared for release just 10 days from now (March 20th), promises to be one of the most impressive (and fluid) games in recent times, if the original, modern Doom is anything to go by.

Bethesda has even gone so far so as to list preferred specs for gamers that want to play in 4K at 60 FPS or in 1440p at 120 FPS: and these are pretty abusive, with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti being required - likely because of its gargantuan 11 GB VRAM. AMD's Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel's Core i9-9900K are the requirements here, alongside 16 GB of system RAM. Check after the break for a breakdown on recommended specs for other resolutions and quality settings, and for Bethesda's trailer showing off customization options for your DOOM slayer. Do you have what it takes to run the game?

If id Tech 7 actually delivers what they say it does than I'm not the least surprised by the top spec basically being "whatever is the fastest currently". The removal of OpenGL is a bummer for people wanting to do generational improvement analysis pre-GCN (something DOOM 2016 was amazing for) but at least it slimmed down the engine a bit. Some articles saying Doom: Eternal also has a much higher engine FPS limit of 1000FPS, so top-tier hardware might actually still show (imperceptible) performance gains when running the game going forward. Can't wait to add it to the benchmark suite.

Those are modest specs. 144 to 240 FPS is still reachable!

I just want to destroy a ton of demons in this game.

Does not Vulkan work for that?

Uhh... These Specs are so NV biased it's disturbing.

I like the complete lack of mention of Navi. Marketing wankery is hard at work here.

I wonder how the Radeon VII will do with it's 16GB of vMem.

Does it have multi gpu support? I think the first one had good multi gpu support but it's been a while since I played it.

No surprise really, shame it's soo damn expensive this time.
Probably still will buy it though obviously.

I'm pretty sure it would be similar to what were getting in id Tech 6. Check out the Wolfenstein II review of the latest Palit 2080 Super. The Radeon VII and RX 5700 XT are competitive with the 2070 Super with the VII edging it out in 4K.

So basically 2080 performance.

More or less. The VII was meant to take on the original RTX 2080 non-Super so it does that quite well.

Nice looking game but just hate this style of shallow gameplay with no story and only 1 speed. Gets boring real fast. Would have loved a Doom 4 that greatly improved on Doom 3, better stroy, more variety in environments and not so claustrophobic. Roll on Cyberpunk 2077.

So I guess Ultra Nightmare will need >8 GB VRAM. Good for the industry. Next-gen x800 GPUs will finally have >8 GB then.

Will be interesting to see what all I can enable with my specs. My CPU and GPU are slower than Ultra Nightmare spec, but they're quite overpowered for 1440p 60 Hz.

Yeah, I'm not upgrading for one game. If my 2080 isn't good enough, Bethesda needs to recompile and try again.

That's probably what a lot of people thought when "Crysis" came out. And could play only after a few years.

Feels more like a next console cycle effect to me. The hardware will likely outpace any current PC GPU with that direct to metal development on consoles. Which is good, development goalposts will move for PC releases as well because of that.

Yeah but you could easily upgrade and cheaply so.

Good point. With Crysis, some tweaking got a good frame rate back then. Perhaps the same will be true with Doom Eternal. It's been a while since we've had a game that really pushed the limits.

The only flaw with that logic is that PC hardware has always outpaced consoles.

The required CPUs don't make any sense to me. Will anyone ever post real requirements based on some testing instead of checking Wikipedia for the most expensive products and slapping them to Powerpoint slides?
