CD Projekt Red in a statement said that the extraordinary circumstances in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic will not affect the release date of "Cyberpunk 2077," arguably the most anticipated game of the year. The game is slated for 17 September, 2020 for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. All CDPR employees have been ordered to work from home until further notice. Much of the content creation of "Cyberpunk 2077" is ready and the game is in post-production, game testing, and receiving pre-release varnish. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many large companies to deploy remote- or virtual desktops for their employees to fall in line with social distancing policies that aim to slow down the spread of the NoCV infection.

working from home is usually a lot slower than working in office, so the fact that there is no change in the release date indicates that the delay to september was artificial and the game is very close to completion, as in specifically delayed to be released in time with the new consoles, rather than them being short on time
they obviously can't say that out loud, because there would be some people going "ree, fucking consoles!"

They're probably getting RTX to work at launch. No RTX at launch == big PR fail for CDPR.

either that or working on adding next-gen stuff for the new consoles. my money's on the new consoles. the Xbox Series X does have RTRT, after all, so it would make sense for the delay.
this would make it in line with Dying Light 2 getting delayed out of nowhere, too

Doubtful, the game was never marketed with RTX initially. Its an addon and the vast majority can't even run it.

Hell the game's hype isn't even remotely about graphics anyway, but about content.

Tangential, but that hugely depends on the office and the individual.

This, most of the time I spend in the office is completely and utterly wasted. With everyone in Corona-quarantine I start at the time I usually go and drive into traffic, and stop once my wife has finished making dinner. I work longer, and the time I spend working is more focused, cause I don't have people asking inane questions every 15 minutes or wanting to talk about their kids or pets all day.

Aside from people working in some kind of team that requires continuous and intensive cooperation, people doing less from home are slacking off.

This. I make sure I do at least equally as much as I do in the office. The result being I've got half a day off if I really wanted to...

Another bonus is being able to divide work as you please. Some days I just don't work during the morning or afternoon and instead fire up at around 19.00 or 20.00 for a few more hours. Productivity is definitely optimized while working at home, even just because you choose how to do things.

But nothing new to me really, I've been working from home for around 50% of my work hours for years now. Great mix and can recommend to most people doing office work. Yes even if you think you're 'needed' all the time. Working from home makes you realize you're not quite as needed as you thought you were and contact with colleagues becomes much more productive and less about nonsense.

The only real damage from working from home is personal / face to face contact with colleagues, there is definitely going to be some point you'll be wanting that social touch.

I see two ways of looking at the matter: They might put more strain on the employees, for example my wife usually finishes her office work (she's a financial analyst) at around 18:00. She's now working from home and yesterday she finished at 20:30, two days ago at around 21:00. While her performance didn't suffer all that much, it adds up with waiting for other people, and the same tasks just take more time. They might hire more temporary employees to perform less critical tasks or outsource such tasks completely. Or the game might really be in a post production state, with the company simply timing the release for the most lucrative time period.

have you ever worked in the game industry? working out of office results in a far greater amount of time spent on communicating than it does in office. speaking from experience.
