Circuit City Gives CheapAssGamer a Subpoena Over Leaked PS3 Prices

As some of you know, the source of the recent leaked PS3 price drops is the message board CheapAssGamer (CAG). Unfortunately, Circuit City doesn't like the idea of their fliers getting leaked before their due time. And so, they are giving CheapAssGamer a subpoena to investigate these shenanigans. They want the full identification and IP address of a certain CAG member known as "Speedy1961". CheapAssGamer's CEO David "CheapyD" Adams declined to give any of this information to Circuit City, and will be hiring a legal consult to "deal with the situation".

A long while back, they leaked a circuit city flyer with reduced PS3 prices.


A little while later sony denied the price cuts, so everyone assumed it was a CC promo.

My bets are that CC is in trouble with Sony reps and they're wanting them to weed out the person that leaked it.

It's apparent that heads over at CC are rolling to care this much. You gotta remember Sony is fighting 2 fronts here:
-console market
-Hi Def market, AKA format wars


I am sure they have some serious plans leading up to Black Friday and after Black Friday and don't want any more leaks like this again. IMO this was an inside job. Store ads usually comes weeks in advance and are usually UPS/Fedex/first class bulk mail and is addressed to the store manager (usually the case but depends on how the store is run) and, are keep in the store manager's office. My point is that they really do treat those ads with priority. It's not uncommon for regular employees to see them as it comes with the nature of the business.
