AMD could spring a major suprise with pricing of its 3rd generation Ryzen 3 "Matisse" quad-core desktop processors we detailed recently. According to pricing put out by Komachi Ensaka, the Ryzen 3 3300X could start at a price of USD $120, and the Ryzen 3 3100 at $104. Even if these are 1,000-unit tray prices, or pre-tax cost prices to retailers, which you mark up by 20 percent, you're still looking at no more than $144 for the 3300X, and no more than $125 for the 3100. This would allow AMD to engage in a price-war against Intel's 10th generation Core i3 line of 4-core/8-thread processors. AMD also appears to be careful not to cannibalize the 3200G and 3400G APUs, which command sub-$150 price points. There's still no word on when AMD plans to launch these chips.

I feel like the RnD, supply chain addons, etc that this took, could have just been spent on lowering the price of the basic 3600 to $145 MSRP, and decimating Intel... I will never understand these companies. eh it's whatever.

I really doubt these will be much faster than their APU cousins at similar price points... seems dumb.

3300g? Should that not be 3200g? And where can one find a 3400g for that price listed? Gotta find one in stock first, but I have not seen them at that<$150 in a while.

AMD needs to fill a void in their lineup, the APUs will not show up anytime soon & will be more expensive than regular (non IGP) versions. This is basically for el cheapo gaming rigs, especially for those on older gen/low end GPU like the 1650/1050 :toast:

DIY is already 8 to 2 in AMDs favor, as for OEMs, no fucks would be given.

Binning. If you market one die/product, you can't market the lesser ones. And in the end, you can only cut your price down the stack if they are lesser chips, ,because that is how yields work.

So its not cannibalizing, the minor differences are still differences but they're never a real loss for AMD. Its just byproduct of the highest tier version they can make.

AMD should launch a 4C4t part for 49$ and 4c8t for 69$. Anythign more makes zero sense, given that 1600AF comes at 85$.

I don't see r5 1600af for $85. Also, considering these parts will be 4c8t budget CPUs that will outperform the I7 lineup until Kaby Lake makes these a great budget option. Let's hope that Motherboards don't become to scarce.

What ? And lose money?
These quad-core are based on zen2 and 7nm (2.5x more expensive than 14/12nm GF), even the ryzen 3 3100 will probably outperform 1600AF.
