The latest Intel Graphics Software 26.20.100.8141 will come as a godsend for those wanting to upgrade graphics drivers on their notebooks and pre-built desktops, and being unable to do so using drivers downloaded from the Intel website. Several OEMs employ driver locks that prevent updates to the drivers with generic Intel drivers. Trying to run the installers of generic Intel drivers will spring up a message that reads "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Setup will exit." You can kiss that error goodbye.

The Intel 26.20.100.8141 drivers are marked "unlocked," meaning that they will install even on laptops and pre-built desktops that they haven't been validated on. The installer will deploy the latest driver files that pack optimization for the latest games, without removing the OEM-specific components (eg: automatic switching between iGPU and dGPU, power-management customization, etc). What makes these drivers particularly important is that many OEMs tend to abandon issue graphics driver updates specific to their laptop model beyond a certain support availability date. If your notebook is older than two years since launch, it's likely the OEM will leave you in the lurch. Grab the drivers from the link below.

Already using the Intel Driver Assistant helps breaking lots of limitations the manufacturer's updaters add, even as products stop being supported and there honestly is no incentive to update driver catalogs after a handful of years.
This is really a huge boon really!
Realtek, take note!!

Intel driver assistant would not let you install GPU drivers, until now :) But you could alway download the driver manually, decompress and install through device manager and say bye bye to the OEM locks.

That is true, manual .inf install too!
For every driver besides the iGPU the tool was already helping, is what I meant with what I said.

Manual INF was the only way to update, and with DCH it could get messy (chance of failure). This is a clean and official way to update drivers.

Several OEMs employ driver locks that prevent updates to the drivers with generic Intel drivers. Trying to run the installers of generic Intel drivers will spring up a message that reads "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Setup will exit."

Funny thing is that I get this message (last tried two days ago) when trying to update my Intel NUC8i7. Will try for the update with today's driver this evening.

It was very frustrating getting this message, with the only additional help information was to get the driver from the brand. Where did they think I got the driver from? If an Intel graphics driver, downloaded from the intel website showing compatibility with my Intel NUC shows that it's not validated for this Intel computer ... Didn't seem to Intel-ligent to me.

Already using the Intel Driver Assistant helps breaking lots of limitations the manufacturer's updaters [...]

Intel Driver Assist is what I originally tried to update my Intel NUC's drivers with. The iGPU failed for the reason shown in the article.

I just tried this driver, from this page, on an HP Zbook Studio G3, and got a message about how I have OEM drivers and need to update via them.

I don't see anything special about these drivers, Intel has released updates with the OEM check broken before.

Did anyone successfully install these on an oem system?

Typical error here... i7-7600U. Downloaded "igfx_win10_100.8141.exe" from the intel website.

Plox intel do this for Networking hardware! It;s such a freakin pain in the ass to get even middle aged WLAN adapters working on anything newer than 7.

Probably you wont be able to install this on HD 4600. HD 4600 didn't even get newer WDDM past 2.0.

Current drivers support devices as old as AC7265 and AC3168. What exactly are the middle aged wlan adapters you are talking about.

I figured as much. Last time I install new driver (in 2018 IIRC) it didn't get the same treatment as newer hardware.
