Not hating on Intel, I just don't agree with the way they market their product.
Go into an electrical retailer and they always try to upsell or sell based on the fact it is an i7 or i9 etc.
Their own charts are misleading and have been doing it for years.

This style of selling technique is ongoing.
On desktop, the naming convention of intel is fine. It's on the mobile market where it's abused, seeing at how little differencs there is between a mobile core i7 and a mobile core i9. At least on desktop the numbers is also indicative of a larger core number.

And Amd mobile naming is even worse in my book. For some mysterious reason, they are choosing an higher first number for their apu/mobile CPU. Ryzen 4800H when it should have been a Ryzen 3800H smh.

But again, tech company are rarely good when it comes to make a simple and clear naming convention. One of the reason that I became interested in tech was to avoid getting swindled by vendors needing to meet a quota. "That pentium D laptop, is far better than that core 2 duo laptop that we don't have in stock anymore".

There's too many peoples who are afraid of tech and don't even try to understand what's behind the numbers, when it's not that hard. If you can read a graph, it's enough to know what to buy, and what to avoid.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I agree neither AMD nor Intel are being truthful in marketing something to the general public that has little understanding of their needs.
A more recent slide has differing segments with "gaming" showing the i9 series chips, yet those that know better could be happy with an i5 or i7.
AMD marketing is virtually non existant here, it's still only sold as a Ryzen 3, 5, or 7 though.
AMD did the same thing touting their flagship and HEDT as gaming CPUs too. This really seems pretty equal from both sides. Those that know better certainly shouldn't get TR for gaming, right? What about a 12c/24t piece in the 3900 or 16c/32t 3950x?

AMD-Ryzen-Threadripper-CPU-Launch_16-1030x579.jpg

Also, to me, ANY mainstream CPU is 'for gaming', really. It's the HEDT and greater platforms that aren't really for gaming (but can do it well still). But since AMD polluted this space with 12c and 16c monsters that an overwhelming majority cannot utilize, the lines have been blurred.

There is something to be said about being an informed buyer.... The names clearly show designation (desktop) between the processors. But all the details of a product can't be listed... Would an Intel 10204050 be better? (That is a 10 core, 20 thread 4 Ghz base and 5 Ghz CPU for the record, lol)

I think we would all love to say we are very excited for the launch. but are we?
:D

giphy.gif

Not excited about CML, except getting it over with and on to RKL - the Z490 boards look nice though.

Super-excited about a few components launching in May and June and over the summer:

-Seasonic recently launched (3) fanless PSUs (2) Platinum and (1) Titanium, they also have a 1600watt Titanium "Big Boy" launching soon and a 800watt SFX-L Titanium for SFF builds.
-AMD Radeon Pro W5400 HHHL workstation graphics card should be announced between May10 and May19, at only $299, PCIe 4.0 7nm Navi - should be a brilliant little card. :)
-Noctua should be announcing the successor to the NH-D15 and the NH-C14S, they might also offer each in the blacked-out variants. Wooooo

...a little birdie told me these things. :)

Soooooo much Intel hate in this thread....ridiculous.

I think you are just seeing fallout from Intel treating their base like crap for so long. Price gouging for incremental updates and so on....

Please both companies treat their "base" the same which is their stock holders. If you should be a fan of any PC hardware company it should be the one that gives you the most for your money and one purchase at a time.

Why the "i5-10600K" 's "asshole" is such similar than 9th Gen?

.....Wait, it isn't i5-10600K, but a QQPP - 9th Gen's Engineering Sample!

Lazy bastard! Its on the FP
What if this is just a plot to trick me into clicking the link to the front page and the review isn't there?
(I read it already, the 10900k is rather underwhelming, but the 10600k is good)
