Rubbish. I have a Samsung 22" 1080p screen for one of my kids which it is ultra light and very sturdy. A matching laptop chassis would be trivial.
Yeah my flat screen TV is pretty light too, i bet ill get one of them 55" laptops right? Buddy, almost no one makes a 20"+ laptop because it kills the point of a "portable computer". 22" is a big laptop to carry around, not to mention the extra weight needed for more internal structures to support it without flexing too much.
...and how difficult would it be to attach one to a set of hinges? Answer: It would not be difficult at all..
Okay, I challenge you to make a computer like that, and for it to actually have a use. 22" laptops are practically useless because at the same rate you can build your own computer that can do better at thermals and cost less. Want an example of one practically useless laptop? Acer Predator 21x. It is a 21" laptop, and exactly what is the point of it? It certainly is NOT very portable, can't even fit in a backpack (17" laptops are usually the desktop replacements in the first place), it wass extremely EXPENSIVE when it was released (note that it has a 7820HK and not a later chip), prove to me that you would not have been able to build a better desktop WITH A UPS cheaper than 9 grand.
Looking at the way you are responding, seems like I agitated you a bit. Honestly dude, if I did anger you with facts, I apologize, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Yes I did throw some opinions in my posts, however my points are still valid. If the vast majority of consumers like a product, no one in their right mind will take the time, use engineering funds, and design another very specific product for very specific people unless there is a price premium to it. Also, why exactly do YOU need a rather large computer when you need it to be portable? It WILL be heavier if you make it that much bigger, not to mention the additional space it is taking... when people go portable, they typically want a smaller computer and lighter as well. Might as well just get two computers if you really need that... One more example since I know you will find a way to contradict this one, I drive an SUV. However, I really like to have a lot of speed and horsepower so I want an SUV with a Hellephant engine (1000hp). I also want the best traction, so lets throw in AWD and race tires. Oh let's not forget, I need to take 6 other folks in my car, so it's gotta be a minivan. AND it needs to have ultra luxury, internal refrigerators, heated seats, just pure luxury. Seems unrealistic eh? That's because it is. Not to mention the engine costs 30 grand alone, and for a car to have all those features, will definitely cost 2 years worth of paychecks, assuming you make over 100 grand a year. Just for a car. Imagine how stupid someone would have to be to buy such a specific car when they could just buy several different cars for different purposes. Likewise, you keep insisting you need a 22" monitor. Buddy, I just don't know how to explain it to you that this is severely unrealistic, and there are better options, like using an external monitor (like everyone does on desktops), or even a portable monitor!
The tri-fold screen setup screams lex, eh?
