AT&T Sends Lady 300 Page iPhone Bill in Box

Spartans aren't the only things that come in groups of 300, nowadays. AT&T detailed a certain woman's phone bill so well that it took 300 pages to completely write out, and was shipped to it's recipient in a box. Most of those pages were used to describe every single text message the lady had sent. The recipient feels that "This (phone bill) is a lot of waste. It's a cardboard box, a ton of pages, and plus, it was almost $10 to send this, so it does not make any sense." The recipient of the monumental bill signed up for E-billing promptly after this, but not before recording a video for her blog of her opening the 300 page bill. The blog is currently down, probably due to such a large volume of traffic. She took the video with the hope that other people would learn from her mistakes, and sign up for E-billing. Instead, people have already vowed to beat her record next billing period.

Agreed, texting is IMO the most inane of things...

In fact, I was reading an article recently about the teens who were murdered in Newark last week:

Apparently, the teens were hanging out in some location (a lot IRC) where they had some sort of altercation/interaction with an unsavory character (i.e. imminent murder). These kids had the time to TEXT one another that they were uncomfortable, that maybe they should leave, that this guy was giving them the creeps, etc. before they were killed.

Perhaps if they instead turned their heads 90 degrees and said LETS GET THE **** OUTTA HERE NOW they might still be alive

Well she paid for unlimitted text messaging, so she doesn't have to pay any more than whatever her original bill is.

While I completely agree with you that text messaging is pretty stupid, and don't even have a text messaging plan on my phone, there are some decent reasonings behind it.

AT&T(and most other carriers) don't offer unlimtted talk plans, however they almost all offer unlimtted text plans. So for people that are fine with text messaging and like to talk a lot, it is often cheaper for them to just get the minimum minutes offered and get unlimited text messaging.

The thing about texting is that it is one silent, compared to talking, so it can be done without anyone taking notice. People like quick silent behavior especially when in an uncomfortable situation.

If those kids would have said "LETS GET OUT OF HERE!!!" the murderer probably would have reacted immediately, giving them no chance to flee. At least they could silently communicate, even though they didn't do anything until it was too late.

Well thats you. my girlfriend txt's all the time and she types hella fast. Not to mention with texting you usually say what you need to and its done. You don't wait for the phone to ring, talk to the other person for 2 minutes after saying what you need to. In the end why do you even care if you can say the same thing in less time. Good for you. Theres a reason its there, a reason people use it.

Don't forget that there are people just like you that think email's are slow and inconvenient. Shoot you need one of those new fangled computers just to send them!

Texting is excellent for small quick questions that can leave what you're doing uninterrupted, and can be quite a bit faster than actually calling someone.

There will always be people that take it too far, but thats their problem, why do you care?

Its a lot harder without a qwerty keypad, but when things such as the iphone start breaking into the masses hands, it's going to change how things are done.

The LCD on the outside of the phone was a useless gimmick for a while, now its almost a must have for new phones.

I was EXACTLY the same way as you at that age....then I got a phone with a camera....went to Venice, and you have no IDEA how useful the damn thing was...you don't take a camera out during the night, and the funniest things happen then.

The MP3 Player, is pointless, they are so cheap nowadays for something that's got good audio quality and a good amount of space.

Oh, and I HAVE a Pocket PC....it's pointless. It's too damn big (And I have one of the small ones). I'd much rather have my phone over my Pocket PC.

The only time it's useful is on holiday, when you want to take video for the plane.

I love my phone, it's amazing, does everything I need, and as zek said, you use your phone so much more when a girl is interested in you, and they will virtually always text you. Get used to it!
