AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT to Lack In-box Coolers

AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 3800XT 8-core and Ryzen 9 3900XT 12-core processors will lack a stock cooler inside their retail PIB (processor-in-box) packages, much like the company's flagship 16-core 3950X. This, according to an alleged part ordering price-sheet leaked to the web by momomo_us. OPN codes for the two are marked as "100-100000277WOF" for the 3900XT and "100-100000279WOF" for the 3800XT, with "WOF" indicating "without fan" or a lack of an in-box cooler. The Ryzen 5 3600XT, on the other hand, will include a Wraith Spire cooling solution AMD rates for processors with TDP of up to 95 W. AMD is pricing the 3900XT at 588€, the 3800XT at 463€, and the 3600XT at 287€ (likely inclusive of taxes, as is usual for EUR list prices). The numbers more relevant to the retail channel are "500+," as that's the quantity at which retailers such as Mindfactory order the chips.

That probab means that the AMD Box Coolers could't handle the few extra MHZ and mV trown in ZEN2 to make those XT parts... we all know that AMD ryzens don't have enough OC Headroom.

At stock speeds sure, if they don't get clogged with dust, which they do very easily. Where as a quality third party cooler, for example a CoolerMaster 212 EVO, allows for easy overclocking and do not easily get clogged with dust.

I forgot Cooler Master had a patent on dust repelling fins.

Is that sarcasm? Anyway, it's more that the fins are spaced further apart so dust doesn't build up as easily and thus the cooler is more effective for a longer period of time. A lot of coolers are like that, not just the CM 212.

These are AMD s "halo" products, I don't think they expect them to sell like hot cakes to begin with, this pricing is more a marketing choice than a realistic one. And no, I don't think any of these parts will "dethrone" the k chips from Intel, they could be very close though. Time will tell.

Not even at stock intel or AMD coolers are good on 65 watts or higher if usage = 100% all cores and temperature less than 70c. So this is a good move.

That's the correct way of showing prices, it's very misleading to show a price that we don't actually pay, if you want to show before tax price do it like Costco and show the normal price in big font and in small font the before tax price.
That being said, those CPUs are quite pricey for a minute increase in frequency (if rumours are to be believed).

I doubt that Spire would sufficient, better give em Prism or not at all. At stock 3600 with Spire already hovering around 80°C in non AC room, another bump in clock would throttle before it reach boost.

In Australia it's illegal not to show the actual price you pay, all taxes, which is usually just the 10% GST, have to be included. US prices are misleading as each state has their own sales tax and you typically add ~8-10% for most states.

And you wont be having lots of OC headroom at all, if it's up to AMD.

The XFR/PBO is such a great tech that it pretty much maxes out the silicon. Forget about old days OC'ing, or all core overclocks. PBO just deliveres it straight out of the box within safe parameters, exactly doing as it was intended to.

Really i favor XFR/PBO more now; it simply boosts when it needs to. Barely any difference now in between all core vs boost.

Well not the case in Australia there is only the GST on most items except fresh food which is exempt. There are no state or city taxes levied on goods and services.

The XT parts will be the same as the old X prices before they were discounted, there is no massive price increase.

As for the no box cooler thing, pretty sure the ppl who are in the market for such CPUs would use a proper aftermarket cooler anyway.
My 1600x had no cooler either but that didn't bother me as I was planning on buying an aftermarket cooler in the first place. 'regardless of my choice of CPU'
