EA via its EA play event has teased next-gen graphics and gameplay from upcoming titles on its publishing label. The games showcase work in progress for next-generation games that seem to be set in three well-known franchises, with Motive, who has just recently developed Star Wars Squadron in conjunction with Lucasfilm, seemingly presenting the only new IP.

From Criterion, a new Need for Speed game is teased, with particular emphasis being put on both detail level on cars and reflections, as well as the absence of any loading times granted by next-gen hardware. Bioware's showcase seems like a tease for Dragon Age 4 - there is a distinct fantasy look to the video, and I believe I've seen those red colors in previous entries' red lyrium crystals. DICE, of course, showcased a new Battlefield game, which exceptional fidelity on character models, and what seems like truly epic battles with hundreds of soldiers on-screen at the same time. Lastly, Motive seems to be developing a physics-based game where environment interactivity is key. Models used seem like a mash-up between fantasy, sci-fi and modern-day, so it's difficult to pen exactly what we're looking at. Catch the video teaser after the break.

Nice teasers, just as usual with next-gen hype cycle we're getting shown stuff that we'll see in actual gameplay maybe five years from now on hardware far more powerful and expensive than what's currently on sale. The graphiczz we'll get this holiday season were in the PS5 presentation, and they're nowhere near as impressive.

I have no confidence in EA. Their PR team can talk a good talk but their corporate team talks louder than their customer focus team so im out.

Opening credits in the game always look photo realistic, the game play though, just the usual stuff.

Careful EA, you already made Bioware look bad in Anthem, don't repeat same mistake again.
As for next Battlefield franchise, could you put your PC bullshit elsewhere?

EA is only good at killing off everyone's favourite franchises. Regardless of how well they use their words or how amazing the graphics, I'll never buy into their hype again.

I'm hoping the vast amounts of negative feedback EA have gotten over the last few years will drive change.
They're back on steam for a start.
And they want to make money.

They're going to have to start listening at some point.

I hope all of this because damn if star wars squadron's isn't amazing it could be decades before another attempt at simulating my childhood Skywalker complex.

I'm not getting younger ffs sort it Ea.

Squadrons does look excellent, but I've given EA the benefit of the doubt too often.

Heck, I think I'm at the stage where any bitterness I once had for EA, has now become complete apathy.

Sim City, while I enjoyed the mechanics, was riddled with bugs, had forced online, and cities which were too constrained. Medal of Honor was rebooted, what was it? Twice? Command & Conquer died with Tiberium Twilight. Need for Speed has had more downs than ups, in recent years. As for Burnout, wasn't the last one hacked up and turned into an abysmal Most Wanted sequel? I'm sure I'm missing more franchises, but you can see what I'm getting at...

Absolutely agree their watering down of current IPs just seems to continue. Squadrons is a new and bold leap and is just pressing all the right buttons from HOTAS support, cockpit views and what appears to be a proper SP experience not just the usual EA tacked on “appeasement” as a huge SW fan that had zero interest in the Battlefronts or Fallen Order THIS is the kind of SW game I actually wanted. EA just has me over a barrel here...

Anyone care to start the "how will DA4 be ruined by the company called BIOWARE that's a shell of its former self" betting pool?
Sadly "old school" Bioware are long gone. All the senior writers, designers and creative directors who made Dragon Age Origins, Baldurs Gate & Neverwinter Nights along with the founders have all jumped ship. In fact Brent Knowles (Lead Designer of Baldur's Gate, NWN and Dragon Age Origins) said after leaving EA between DAO and DA2 - "Looking ahead I knew that I wasn't going to be satisfied with what Dragon Age 2 would be. I'm not the same person I was when I started, and BioWare certainly isn't the same company..."

As with most EA acquisitions, they start out semi-autonomous for a few years before being full on "EA-ified", then end up hollow shells once most of the original creative staff leave only to be replaced with "political artists" and lowest common denominator centric 'designers' tailored for EA's 'casual audience'. Then a few years after that, they end up in that infamous "EA Graveyard" where Bioware will inevitably also be laid to rest over the next decade. As for the real producers of DAO style RPG's today, I believe they're called Larian.

I have purchased 4 multiplayer EA games titles on PC and this is my experience....

- Every game is full of cheats , a joke anticheat engine leading to a completely unplayable game and a joke report system which does Nothing.

That's it....

EA got some nice cash from Apex Legends, so now I hope they make Titanfall 3 with double the length of the single player campaign! :) As 2 was epic and my number FPS for quite a while. It's just my thing, what can I say. May be a Dead Space 4, but with the original team split in billion pieces, getting them together is next to impossible.
