With the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro (M20), Schenker Technologies presents an ultra-mobile high-performance laptop, whose top of the range version uses the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU. The deliberate omission of an additional, dedicated graphics card, places the laptop in an exclusive position in the European market. In contrast to its little brother, the SCHENKER VIA 15 (E20), the Leipzig-based laptop manufacturer has equipped the Pro version with more flexible connectivity options and dual-channel memory support. Indespensible features such as the 91 Wh battery and the robust lightweight chassis remain untouched.
Schenker Technologies presents the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro with AMD's current Renoir APUs - the Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H. The powerful, multithreaded and efficient six and eight-core models each operate in the maximum configurable 54 W TDP envelope. Compared to the regular SCHENKER VIA 15 (Non-Pro), whose AMD Ryzen 5 3550U is limited to a TDP of only 15 watts, the Pro offers a remarkable performance improvement. While the majority of competitors focus on coupling AMD's mobile H-APUs with an expensive, dedicated graphics solution, the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro takes a more efficient approach. The integrated Vega 7 graphics unit is more than capable when powering everyday applications.
It features seven compute units and operates with a high clock rate of up to 1600 MHz. Schenker Technologies' latest laptop is thus aimed primarily at users who need a light, slim and mobile workstation with high processing power. Unlike the current AMD Renoir-based thin & light laptop segment, especially using the AMD Ryzen-APUs U-series, the Pro is not limited to a low TDP envelope; instead offering a no-compromise blend of mobility, slim design and performance.
Dual-channel memory and more flexible connectivity options
In contrast to the SCHENKER VIA 15, the new Pro version offers two SO-DIMM slots. This means that the configurable memory can now be run in dual channel mode and the total configurable capacity increased to 64 GB DDR4-3200 (2x 32 GB). Among other benefits, the integrated AMD Vega graphics unit benefits from this increase in memory performance. This is further complimented by an M.2 slot with fast connection via four PCI Express 3.0 lanes.
The SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro still integrates four USB ports, including a USB C 3.2 Gen1 port, now enabling the laptop to be charged by a USB power supply unit or an external battery via Power Delivery. The HDCP-compatible HDMI interface has been upgraded to the latest 2.0 standard and supports image output to an external 4K monitor at up to 60Hz. The laptop also features a microSD card reader, a 2-in-1 audio connector and a Gigabit LAN port. A fast WiFi 6 module now also handles wireless data transfer in the starting configuration.
Lightweight chassis meets professional display and high capacity battery
Despite all optimizations, the 15.6-inch SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro currently positions itself as by far the lightest ultrabook-like laptop in its performance class. A weight of around 1.5 kg and slim dimensions of 356.4 x 233.7 x 16.8 mm make the laptop an exceptionally mobile solution. This is ensured, among other things, by a cleverly designed multi-component chassis; manufactured using a lightweight construction process, the display lid and upper shell are made of an AZ91D magnesium alloy, while Schenker Technologies uses aluminium for the lower chassis. Only the thin LCD bezel is manufactured from high quality plastic. The Full HD resolution display utilises IPS technology and is ideal for professional content creators, with a 100% coverage of the sRGB colour space. Despite the low total weight, a 91 Wh battery has been integrated, which gives the SCHENKER VIA 15 Pro an extraordinarily long battery life. Even when continuously playing videos, the efficient laptop lasts for almost 14 hours with the screen brightness manually adjusted to 150 cd/m2 - therefore making it the perfect, slim, multimedia all-rounder.
TUXEDO presents a special Linux version of the laptop
With the TUXEDO Pulse 15, the Linux specialists at TUXEDO are simultaneously presenting a technically identical model, but being optimized especially with regard to the open source operating system. TUXEDO laptops are characterized by a manufacturer-specific BIOS and specially adapted driver packages, which ensure the function of specific features such as hot-keys and a smooth fan control under Linux.
