2 is really only needed. 2x16gb is more than plenty for anything majority will do.
With the layout, space for 4 dimms is not possible, as all the power ports are on the right side.

that's how it gets validated at 5000MHz. Shorter traces and different socket orientation. Would like to see this outside of the stupid expensive category.

No, you're seeing properly with your eyes... just not aware who this is marketed towards. ;)

This is a track car, man...meant for racing. That said, it will support 64GB which is fine for 95% of users. Short traces is how they get those memory speeds.

The best Z490 available, probably only rivaled by ASUS Apex. I would have bought this but the damned Chipset is still DMI 3.0 and same for Z590 leak, though for latter Intel is increasing the chipset I/O to achieve parity with X570.

Nice, only thing I dislike is the right angled connectors along the bottom edge, but if used on a test bench it wouldn't matter.

They already did this with z390, launched so late that it was irrelevant. Who interested in building a intel platform now ?

That's exactly what i like about this board. Especially that the EPS12 connectors are side-by-side with the main ATX24 pin.

Engineering takes time. That's always true for Dark and Kingpin models. But i agree that most people are not buying Intel right now. Still this board has a niche and people who do extreme OC will most likely buy it regardless of Intels popularity. Just too bad that EVGA's CEO hates AMD and stubbornly refuses to have anything to do with them.

I can’t find info about PCIe version. Is it 4.0 or still 3.0? I may support EVGA board, but not intel marketing.

If it's not mentioned it's likely 3.0 but considering the quality of this board one would assume it could support 4.0
Depends if EVGA did place the nessesary redrivers on board or not.

Hi,
EVGA is always late to the party
Have to check but asus apex has better m.2 design using the dimm_2 slot card it uses pch instead of limited pci-e/ cpu lanes
Of course apex also is 400.us and not 550.us

Apex......

*1When DIMM.2_1 is operating in SATA Mode, SATA6G_2 will be disabled.
*2 When DIMM.2_2 is populated, SATA6G_5&6 will be disabled.
*3 M.2_1 shares bandwidth with PCIe x4 slot, when M.2_1 is populated a x2 device, PCIe x4 slot will running at x1 mode, when M.2_1 is populated a x4 device, PCIe x4 slot will be disabled

That's how most work is part of my point. ;)

I think the only Z490 M.2 that are CPU based are boards set to support PCIe 4.0. Since the PCH is 3.0, it needs the CPU PCIe 4.0 capabilities.

Hi,
That I've read only asus z490 board that might be pci-e 4 compatible is xii extreme and that is a big maybe.
