450$ for U2421E? I paid 600$ for HP LP2475, which is also IPS 24" 1200p 60Hz 1000:1, but with a wide gamut and that was 11 years ago!

I'd expect much better after a decade.


BTW - LP2475, truly one of the best displays ever made. 11 years of hard work and still going strong.

PC Display tech is going backwards, and prices just keep going up...

At this rate, we will be paying $2000 for a 27" IPS with the same old 1000:1 contrast, 300nit brightness and sRGB colour in 10 years time. Ahh, maybe we get wide colour gamut thrown in for that price by then...

This is one of those things I dont understand, its great to have this, I would love to know my screen is showing to the best of its ability what something should look like.
But....why...why is there not a proper app for this for our phones yet?

I know there were apps in the past that tried/did this but its all so vague and not established.

Like why dont AMD and/or Nvidia make some app that you can put on your Phone, link with the gpu software and then use your phone's camera to color calibrate the screen?

Yeah. Colorimeters are very precise devices, otherwise what would be the point of calibration? You can't just use Your phone camera for the same reason You can't trust an uncalibrated display - they vary in picture quality.

Imagine surveyors start using their phones instead of levellers and theodolites - would You feel safe inside the building they helped construct?

I paid $600 for a 2001FP's 20 years ago before 1600 x 1200 gaming became popular and it is still alive and kicking to this day.

It's not that, it's a color critical work monitor. The kind you don't want to overdrive much (overshooting and all that).

If they keep up with the poor build quality they won't sell much. There are quite a few complaints about the lower bezel for the 2020 models.
