be quiet!, the market leader for PC power supplies in Germany since 2007, announces Shadow Rock 3 White. Instead of the silver/black bi-color scheme of the original version, the new cooler sports a white/black design that will feel right at home in fitting color-themed builds. Shadow Rock 3 White boasts a similar cooling capacity as the original silver version, which was released in March 2020. It is rated at an impressive 190 W TDP thanks to its advanced heat sink design and heat pipe layout, and the included Shadow Wings 2 high-speed fan.

Shadow Rock 3 White implements five 6 mm heat pipes with heat pipe direct touch (HDT) technology. The heat pipes are in direct contact with the processor surface, which results in fast heat transfer from the CPU to the heat sink. Shadow Rock 3 White comes with a black fan, offering a neat contrast to the white electrophoretic coating of the heat pipes and heat sink. This Shadow Wings 2 120 mm PWM high-speed fan is decoupled from the heat sink and offers a silent operation at no higher than 24.4 dB(A), even at maximum speed. Combined with a high fin pitch this results in a cooling performance capability of up to 190 W TDP, enough to enable trouble-free overclocking of mainstream desktop processors. Users who are looking for even higher cooling performance have the option to attach a second fan to the heatsink.

Asymmetrical design and top mounting system
The asymmetrical design of Shadow Rock 3 White moves the heatsink towards the rear exhaust of the case for unobstructed access to all memory slots. This guarantees maximum compatibility with high-performance memory modules, including RAM with tall heat spreaders or LED lighting. Installation is simplified thanks to a top mount design and an included screwdriver. The cooler is compatible with all current CPU sockets from Intel and AMD (except TR4 and sTRX4) and fits best on Intel Socket 1200 and 115X or AMD Socket AM4 motherboards with up to four memory slots.

Pricing and availability
Shadow Rock 3 White will be available for sale on October 27 at a recommended retail price of $59.90 / €59.90 / £54.99.

it's a good HS but why don't constrain the height under 160 thus allowing a lot more compatibility like D15s?

Here we go again with the false advertising....

I don't understand why or how or when or where the term "WHITE" is meant to designate "White but with some other color(s) thrown in too" ???????

I mean, like, seriously. would it really have been that much harder to make the top cap & fans white also, ...

Soooo glad I saw those real white coolers here a few weeks ago, which will be in my upcoming Snowblind rig :)

You want a real white screw driver with that as well?.... :p :D

It gets worse, man. This is a white shadow.

Dafuq is that anyway... have you ever seen a white shadow? maybe those are the black bits, or its opposite day at BeQuiet?

Still though, White is obviously better for temps

Kind of ridiculous that they couldn't make the fan white as well..... Wish there were more white components in the PC DIY space, though it is improving. I'm not sure when it was decided that PC enthusiasts want everything to be black.... Kind of like how they tried to force the whole "'red and black' is the coolest color scheme ever imagined" a few years ago which you still see remnants of today... Personally I think it's one of the worst, cliché played out tropes there is....

Behold... The ugliest motherboard ever conceived by man (and that includes ones with green PCBs):

Wonder how this would do with a 3900x.

how so, please elaborate ???
You know, the only difference between Arctic Freezer 34 and its "Esports Duo" upgraded version is this paint. It creates turbulence to lift off the stagnant air foil.
Also, I would give Shadow Rock 3 top honors along with Scythe Kotetsu II. They do very well in the p/p bracket.

And you know this how ??

Can you please post (or link to) the independent 3rd party engineering/wind tunnel/thermal imaging test results to sustantiate this statement ?

That is how Arctic markets their stuff. I think you can give Arctic the benefit of doubt. They 3rd party develop for other brands, too.
THERMAL COATING

A thermal coating creates micro-turbulences with a special surface structure. Combined with offset heat pipes this leads to an optimised heat-dissipation and to an increased cooling performance.

Funny thing is, Arctic positions these above Bequiet 3 and 4 series which is questionable, imo. I read through hardware.info and computerbase.de. It doesn't occur to me that way. They most gain when eardrums aren't the impediment.

Oh come on, no white fan? No white top?

I used to have a sick white build that i had to ditch because every brand did dumb colour combos like this

:toast:

Isn't it obvious?!

Now, add RGB in blue and you can go sub zero

It just hit me, they want this to be an inclusive product. Needs balance

One for @crazyeyesreaper to get in and review.

Already was reviewed, there is no real difference other than color scheme at least according to the PR.

I don't know. I want to give a huge applause to be quiet! for delivering some of the best aircoolers. You have to hand it to them, along with Noctua - these threadrippers aren't going to cool themselves, and cooled competitively at that.
Sometimes my heart warms at the thought of a well composed air cooler. There aren't very many solid components like they sport. I get anxious to make some airducts for water-grade case internals. Not shadow rock 3, but anyway.
