Noctua today expanded its chromax.black line with all-black versions of the award-winning NH-D15S and NH-U9S CPU coolers: Staying true to the successful formula of the original models, the new chromax.black versions with their black fans and black coated heatsinks combine the same signature quiet cooling performance with a sleek stealth look.

"Our chromax.black coolers have been very well received and we're thrilled to expand the line-up with further models", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "With the NH-D15S and NH-U9S, the chromax.black line now includes a top-tier dual tower model with excellent compatibility as well as a compact 9 cm-class cooler that is ideal for space-restricted builds."

The new NH-D15S chromax.black and NH-U9S chromax.black are identical to the regular models except for the colour: Featuring black coated heatsinks, black fans with black anti-vibration-pads, black fan clips and black mounting parts, they are literally black from head to toe. Thanks to thoroughgoing optimisations of the coating material and process, the chromax.black models provide the same, renowned quiet cooling performance as their regular, non-coated counterparts.

The NH-D15S is an asymmetrical single fan version of the award-winning NH-D15. Thanks to its asymmetrical design, the NH-D15S clears the top PCIe slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards. At the same time, the single fan setup and recessed lower fins guarantee 100% RAM compatibility with memory modules of up to 65 mm height. Users who have sufficient room can also upgrade the cooler with either a 120 mm or round 140 mm fan on the front fin stack for further improved performance in dual fan mode.

The NH-U9S is a compact premium cooler in classic 9 cm size. Its asymmetrical design with 5 heatpipes provides strong quiet cooling performance and tanks to its 95x95mm footprint, the NH-U9S clears the RAM and PCIe slots on all current mainboards, including µATX and ITX. Combined with its 125 mm height, this makes the NH-U9S a highly versatile solution with outstanding case, RAM and PCIe compatibility.

In addition to the new CPU coolers, Noctua also introduced retail sets of its signature brown anti-vibration pads for 200, 140, 120, 92 and 80 mm fans for customers who want to accent their chromax line fans and coolers with a slight touch of the classic Noctua colours. Each set contains 16 pads for up to two fans.

For more information, visit the product pages of NH-D15S chromax.black, NH-U9S chromax.black, NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads for 140 mm & 120 mm fans, NA-SAVP3 anti-vibration pads for NF-A15, NA-SAVP5 anti-vibration pads for 92 mm & 80 mm fans, NA-SAVP6 anti-vibration pads for 200 mm fans.

The manufacturer's suggested retail prices are as follows:
  • NH-D15S chromax.black: EUR 89.90 / USD 89.90 NH-U9S chromax.black: EUR 64.90 / USD 64.90
  • NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads for 140mm & 120mm fans: EUR 6.90 / USD 6.90
  • NA-SAVP3 anti-vibration pads for NF-A15: EUR 6.90 / USD 6.90
  • NA-SAVP5 anti-vibration pads for 92mm & 80mm fans: EUR 6.90 / USD 6.90
  • NA-SAVP6 anti-vibration pads for 200mm fans: EUR 6.90 / USD 6.90

At this point it’s probably safe to say we won’t see chromax A12x25’s until 2021.

I was planing on buying an NH-D15S in dec and just live with the brown so this is great news since i really wanted a black cooler
The normal NH-D15 is too close to my GPU for my liking so the NH-D15S is a better option

I would prefer an all white instead of an all black personally. I would prefer Noctua U12A in all white, $99 .... but that dream will never happen

The x25 in the name is the major hint, it'll probably be 2025.

The U14S has the same problem, they're all based on old centered designs.

Which is why i bought the NH-U12S chromax last year and its not all that great
I dont want a CLC cooler i had too many of them fail which leaves the NH-D15S as the best option

Seems they are out of ideas on how to improve performance of their current products. They are only releasing black versions of their products, which required 0 R&D. And the competitors are catching up.

I always complained about that awful beige/brown combination, but when I see those fans in black, I just think "it isn't Noctua anymore". :p

I been using the D15S for some time now with 2 fans. 1500 RPM in middle and 1200 RPM in front, the 1500 RPM fan maxes out at 800 RPM in silent mode on a 4770K @ 4,5 GHz (1.19v) :toast:

Excellent. NH-D15S BLACK might be the cooler I chose for Ryzen 9 5950X. That colour will fit my build plans nicely.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I don't mind heaping praise on Noctua, their coolers are good and their customer service is good.

They can stop with the bullshit pricing though. $20/€20 extra just to have it in colours that aren't an embarassment? C'mon guys. The fugly beige and burgundy ones were already overpriced compared to the competition and only reached any semblence of value if you considered the free socket upgrades that would add longevity to offset the kind of silly up-front costs.

The D15 chromax is now twice the price of competitors, up from 50% more expensive. Maybe just stop making beige and burgundy and use black fans for your regular heatsinks at least...?

They're actually coming with new a new D15 and U12/14 design with 7 heatpipes instead of 6. And the D15 will get 10% more surface area.

Apart from that they're still busy with that fanless cooler.

It is absolutely disgusting how slow they are to the market with these simple moves.

I bought a D15 black like less than 6 months ago. Totally would have went for the S instead. (in black)

And I don't even have a window on my case. Just knowing the ugly isn't in there is worth the $20. lol

I've been holding out for a chromax edition of A12x25 and so far nothing. At one point they had the chromax A12x25 on their fan page and then removed it. I am still rocking my original NF-P12 3-pin fans from 2012.
