Not really, I am speaking about past and present facts. Nvidia is well known to sell its GPUs for a premium cost despite the fact they don't deserve such premium. A great example is the RTX 2000 series, highly overpriced. Look at it objectively and you should also agree, as most Nvidia fanboys also complained by the high cost for little to no benefits for justifying that cost.

next gen consoles are focusing on ray tracing, nvidia is actually going to be left in the dust since they use proprietary ray tracing, most game developers will be focusing on AMD dx12 RT because consoles are the money makers, and we will get those ports. so nvidia has RT crown now, but in future they wont.

whats proprietary is how Nvidia handles the processing within its own hardware, no different from AMD really.

An API like DX12 is an abstraction layer. It translates. Nothing more, and green and red are both looking at the same translation service.

The custom hardware in consoles is.... custom so not quite the same as a Navi discrete GPU. Shared memory, fixed storage speeds... On top of that... history has certainly not provided proof of any sort of better optimization for AMD GPUs.

Well maybe if AMD had anything to compete against Nvidia's RTX 2000 series it may have drove costs down. This time they do.

The 1080 and 1080ti were somewhat fairly priced. Even Nvidia's previous Gen. The RTX 2080, 2080ti and 2070 were selling at ripoff prices. And Nvidia Fanboys agree.

Anyhow I agree AMD left the high end open to Nvidia, because there priority was to get ZEN out successfully. Now they have RDNA2 that competes well.

Well, barely any better than the 12 combined 3090s, 3080s, 3070s that have been released.

Well if AMD are sitting on thousands of 6000 series cards in a warehouse somewhere, I'd suggest now is a good time to take advantage of Nvidia's supply woes, just a thought.

Yes but it was funnier than nVidias? At least AMD is trying to be honest and release the cards when they can, and not do a Jensen “release” that took place only to undercut and underhype RDNA2.

They probably do have more cards than nvidia. Also nVidia had in their plan to ship at least a couple of 100K cards by November but rumors say that they cut that in half because they need to restructure their line and segmentation.

Its a tactic. Theres rumors that Nvidia will have thousands of cards ready to go towards the end of November.

Hell the Microcenter here in Denver had around 100 3070 FE cards and over 10 MSI Ventus 3s. And several other Evga yesterday. Still had some into the afternoon. If you wanted a 3070, it was pretty easy to get one from the sounds of it. Trying to get one online wasn't the way.

Yes, Microcenter is also selling FEs now.

I would have to assume everything would end up being automatically enabled but that Drivers will have to probably play a role in identifying what combo you are using like a Radeon & a Ryzen CPU.
But if you are looking for more refined details on how this works, I think AMD is keeping that quiet, keep the competition from learning how this works perhaps? I remember AMD filed several Patents back in 2017 or 2018 about Infinity Cache and some other memory utilization thingies?
I am also sure both new PS5's and Xbox Series X will also be utilizing SAM for sure.

i always browse the BIOS when it gets updated, so I will give this a look, cheers. hopefully enabling it doesn't mess up ram overclocking.

About 20% faster (that is what 6800 is to 3070) is spelled "barely better" these days.

My local Microcenter alone had around 100 RTX3070 FE at launch and they went out of stock in the afternoon of launch day. If you wanted a 3070 it was pretty easy to get one, but trying to online was way harder especially with Newegg since they have zero bot protection.
