AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Overclocked to 5.90 GHz

What exactly is the point of people overclocking with LN2? Beyond pointless.

If everything were to be judged on its utilitarian use few things would not be pointless, including every damned hobby you can think of.

What exactly is the point of listening to music/painting a painting, etc.? Beyond pointless.

But seriously, not everything needs to have a practical use. Most of what humans do are forms of expression. Are we not allowed to entertain ourselves? Are we but lifeless husks who's only valid thing to do is to eat and reproduce?
It's a hobby, it's a fun thing to experiment with. See what your tech can do if it wasn't thermally limited, that's what LN2 overclocking is. It has no practical usecase, but it doesn't have to. It's a form of expression, it's a fun thing, it's just something to do. Stop being so miserable, people!

So I tell myself I have no interest in LN2 OC... yet here I am reading this... caught out.
10 or so years ago I thought low end CPUs would be running at these speeds ... So much for my prescience.

Imagine someone telling you just 2 years ago, that AMD will totally wreck intel and nvidia across all segments, and there will be a worldwide supervirus? Back then you'd be a nutjob, tinfoil hat, wacko, etc. :D
I actually told people about the virus last year. Got my yearly "crackpot" tag. All fine and as expected form my side.

If you want human civilization to prevail yes, but if you don't care about the human species ability to survive and to disappear permanently lost in the space vacuum of time then no. Also strictly eating and reproducing could certainly lead to complications and cannibalism and/or fall of human life on this planet if reproduce and consume more quickly than the planet can accommodate for both plants and animals will perish and it'll be the zombie apocalypse. It's bleak yet it's a real reality. If we can traverse to far away survivable planets or moons or whatever it doesn't eliminate the problem, but it could delay the outcome.
