We previously brought you a report on MSI's new graphics card lineup in the form of the SUPRIM X series. The new SKUs will slot in right above the Gaming X graphics cards, supplanting them, and effectively becoming MSI's top models for the foreseeable future. The SUPRIM X series ship with Dual BIOS capabilities (and both GAMING and SILENT modes) and much higher TGP values than the GAMING X Trio series they supplant: the RTX 3090 SUPRIM X is listed with 420 W (+ 70 W over reference, + 50 W over the RTX 3090 GAMING X), while the RTX 3080 SUPRIM X ships with a 370 W (+ 50 W over reference, + 30 W over the RTX 3080 GAMING X).

MSI SUPRIM graphics cards feature a brand new TRI FROZR 2S cooling solution equipped with three TORX 4.0 fans. The graphics card features close quarters heatpipes around the VRM and backplate which is now made of metal, instead of the painted plastic solution that MMSI used on their GAMING X Trio. The cards are expected to be announced come November 20th alongside reviews from some publications, and for now, there is no pricing information.

No stress! Not saying that a review is not welcome, but alot of 3080 review have been done, and without removing hype, there is little difference to the average user between the different 3080/3090 cards other than look (i know that there are alot of differences, but to alot of people it comes down to whether or not the card is available (which most cards are not right now!) :)

At this point I wouldn't care, since average Joe won't be able to buy it for months anyway.

I'm liking the power consumption ratings. 370W 3080 and 420W 3090 sounds great compared to the abysmal Gaming X Trio series.

Im actually not trying to be smart or funny but is that great? 370W/420W is aloooot of power compared to earlier. Seems like they are not pushing innovation but raw force into the advancement (I understand that a tick tock model comes in moves, but 2 years ago I did not expect us going that high again (given the situation we are in.)

No pressure W1zzard. Take your time and provide us with your best.

On a side note, I am excited to see what RDNA2 has to offer, after your review of course. Tomorrow, I'll be making a decision between 6800XT and 3080.

That's great since more power limit headroom = more performance by default and overclocked. If you want a low powered card then just buy the FE or you can always limit this card's power limit to a lower % as well. The point is it gives the end user option to increase performance even if efficiency goes out the window which that end user is overclockers like me.

Well for sure this card is for the overclocker maximum performance kinda guy. If you want efficiency look for cards with 2 8-pins and a lower power limit but if you want a big cooler like on this card there's no reason for manufacturers to lower the power limit though, when you can just lower it manually with msi afterburner.
